What are we doing for a back up goalie?Odds in Crawford seeing January without serious injury are low
Smith - Maresjek - Talbot - Reimer
Thoughts - Colbyboy
Not good ones are my thoughts. And all too expensive. |

Blackhawks now have eight NHL defensemen under contract, plus all those prospects coming to camp. Still very crowded, might be more trades to come. - mrpaulish
Well, except if a team hopes to go deep in the playoffs, 8 is about what you are going to need. If not more. |

Wonder though if this means they sign and bring over the Cossack goalie, Nalimov: https://www.eliteprospect...layer/123057/ivan-nalimov

De Haan, rights to Saarela for rights to Forsling and Forsberg.
Great move for Hawks. - Tyler Cameron
It was a travel day for me, so I just saw this one...
Right now, the best player is the one we got, reunited the Saarela Finn brothers...sign the the BIG NAIL in net, and we got better for now didn't we? |

This was his 4th career shoulder surgery
Durability has always been a question . . . otherwise brings some much needed stability to our second pairing. - gmurban
He played exceptionally well during the playoffs through the shoulder injury. Durability is an issue but you have to admire being about to power through that kind of thing and still perform. It reminds me of so many players for the Hawks over the cup runs. |

I still think Eakin or some bottom line sandpaper is still coming to the Hawks via trade.
For a team that was horrible to the eye/paper last year, they sure have gone for it |

DeHaan on IR for a couple of months. Move Murphy ot Gus this summer and give Boqvist or Beaudin an audition at camp and give them a look see. Got to bring them up sooner or later.

Most likely.
Delia will probably get first dibs on backup unless one of Lankinen or Nalimov just outplay him in the pre-season. Then those two can man Rockford. |

Choices?? Bring over the Cossack and let em all battle it out? But I'll say this, they better have a bona fide backup cuz they might have the makings of a solid club. Hate to see it all railroaded by an injury to Crow, who will be in his CONTRACT yr!

The Hawks not have 8 d-men on the major league roster with 6 of them being LD's. Murphy and Seabrook are the only RD's on the roster. Gustafsson can and has played RD, and Jokiharju is waiting on the minor league roster. I'm not sure trading Murphy is a good plan because he is one of the RD's that will probably play a lot (as opposed to Seabrook, hopefully). Trading Gustafsson might be ill advised now too because he is the only offensive d-man of the bunch unless Keith can still get it up. Jokiharju is adequate offensively but he really isn't an offensive driver. I was all for trading Gus before with the idea of trading high on him ... but now maybe not. |

With the additions of Maata and DeHaan, and the subtraction of Forsling, what's the current cap space look like?
IMO, some other D-man will probably need to go, correct? Getting crowded back there. |

Agree with most of this. Jokesonyou is far too early in his career to determine whether he is an offense driver at this level. Might want to check his point totals in Portland, tho. |

Know what LBR, Forsling will keep getting chances based on the eye test. Kid has skills and if he ever puts it together he's a new age modern Dman who can skate and move the thing. - Mr Ricochet
I am with you, Ric...I at first was kind of saddened but we don't know if his agent and the kid wanted out or a new start.
I think he has upside, potential, but the Hawks got better for now, with this one and you have to think some other defender(s) may be sent packing too |

Kevin Lankinen was the best goalie in the world this Spring not named Binnington (Or Rask with Game 7 being the exception). Lankinen made 50 saves against some of the best snipers in the world vs Russia and another 40 vs Canada in the Gold Medal Game. The Finnish team had one NHL player on it...Henri Jokiharju. |

Perhaps but not necessarily. De Haan will be on IR til December and Dahlstrom could be sent down or just rotate with Seabs considering his cap hit. |

This could be yes though - he was exceptional at Worlds. Delia, Lankinen, and potentially Nalimov is the best goalie depth the Hawks have had in years. |
