Too many bodies on the backend, unless Seabrook is going to be a healthy scratch at $7mil??
Only way they move Anisimov is if they want Dach at Center and he starts at 3C.... - EnzoD
You could still have AA as Dach's LW, splitting the C duties and also on-the-job on his line responsibility training. |

Now I'm a little more annoyed they picked up Maatta for Kahun. There's no need for him if they were able to get De Haan for Forsberg+Forsling. Would have prefered:
Keith-Jokiharju
De Haan-Murphy
Gus-Seabrook
No need for Maatta. - L_B_R
I suspect another move is coming.
Connor Murphy is the name jumping out at me.

2 cups, a WJC Gold(?), 2:00 on the kill for a Hawks team that ranked 274th in PK, 24 yrs old with 5 yrs in the NHL and 362 NHL games! Isn't the bench mark for Dmen to hit their prime 400 games?
If this kid is healthy hes a top 4 and 1st unit PK player.

Very reasonable and AA is responsible, nice teammate to skate with for the kid to learn....... Remember Q was an AA guy cuz he was "predictable".

Time for Murphy to go away
Why would there not be a need for Maata?? Did you not watch Murphy, Dahlstrom, Koekkoek, Forsling and the rest of the #6-7 Dmen they rolled out last year?
Now that Seabrook can play with a NHL caliber Dman...it can only help his game.
They added 2 very good shot blockers and can now roll out -
Keith- Gus*(maybe)
Maata-Joki
DeHaan-Seabrook
And move Murphy for anything |

I don't mind Maatta in general and think if they can get 2017-18 version of him, they'll be fine. But there is risk involved for sure and I'd rather they had cheap Kahun. De Haan is a similar style d-man and they only have so much room on the left. |

I'm not really a fan of moving Murphy - he was better defensively than Maatta last season and on par with him the season before. Murphy was playing top 3 minutes vs Maatta and De Haan both playing 5. |

Saarela had a nice season in the AHL too (his 2nd season in the A) and is 22 years old. 54 pts in 69 games. Will be interesting to see how he comes up in camp. Maybe he’s someone else that could replace Kahun along with Sikura, Wedin, and Kubalik. |

Three possible moves now:
1. Murphy traded like TC says. Maybe to Winnipeg (plus a little more) for a forward like Ehlers?
2. Trade Gus. His value has never been higher.
3. Call me crazy. Does Seabrook see he is #7 D and waive NMC to go to FLA? Stranger things have happened. |

NOTE - De Haan had shoulder surgery this summer
https://www.espn.com/nhl/...martinook-de-haan-surgery
"RALEIGH, N.C. -- Carolina Hurricanes forward Jordan Martinook and defenseman Calvin de Haan both have had offseason surgery.
General manager Don Waddell said Tuesday that Martinook had a procedure on a core muscle, while de Haan's surgery was on his right shoulder.
Martinook is expected to recover in four to six weeks, while de Haan will be out four to six months.
Martinook, 26, had a career-best 15 goals with five game winners, and was in and out of the lineup during the playoffs due to injuries. De Haan, 28, injured his shoulder against Pittsburgh on March 31 but returned for Game 4 of the first-round playoff series against Washington." - EnzoD
DeHaan out 4-6 months after shoulder surgery. Whoa ... that just stuck a pin in the balloon. So if he had the surgery in late May / early June - that would put him back somewhere in the October-December time frame. Similar to Murphy last season. Well ... that complicates things.

LTIR de Haan early on and Dahlstrom/Seabrook rotate in and out of the press box? |

Carolina dumpling salary to pay for Ahi and getting a goalie to replace Mrazek/McKiilleny. Great move.. Forsberg and Forsling not in the Hawks long term plans.

Hot damn, the Hawks have a problem of TOO many, or close to, competent Dmen? The Chicago Blackhawks? And they ain't smurfs?? Drafted a 6ft 4in C, 6ft 6in D? Am I in the Twilight Zone?
