His cost isn’t a solution for us. Rather play our prospects & the cap for something else or another day.

Acquiring another top 6 forward will push down another forward to play with Gaudette.

Plus future push from Pod, Hoglander, Madden, Lind, Gadjovich, ZMac, etc.

Or add 2 forwards like Gusev and Ferland and suddenly the forward group looks very deep and talented. Entire top 6 would have 20 goal talents and the bottom 6 would be filled with 10+ goal potential forwards. A recipe for contender status.

I can’t count Edler getting a reasonable contract as a win, he still gave an aging defenseman big cash and a no-move, we’ve just been numbed by such bad contracts that we feel good when we give one for slightly above market value. It isn’t like Benning got a hometown discount

I'm not sure what he has ever had as an organizational strength.

Cap space and an owner who has been willing to spend money. I’d even give credit to his drafting/scouting, all could’ve been used in some capacity to get them further than where they are. The result is mediocrity

it's pretty tight this year unless Sven can be dumped off somewhere.

Would open up more next year with Spooner gone, and potentially Tanev gone, plus cap going up a bit.

Dunno. Someone was talking (radio maybe?) about the cap being set for two years. At a lower level, so the escrow $ were lower too (players keep more of their money) maybe I’m wrong, but that doesn’t happen very often.

Sounds like a mutual discussion was done to do that. Players hate the escrow & maybe the e-draft & new tv deal are factors.

I can’t find anything to corroborate. The basis of the conversation was about a lower than expected salary cap, then the new TV contract in the US providing a bump in year three.

Moving Tanev is counterproductive without getting another RHD. Hard enough already to get one without moving him.

Not a fan of 3 shorties (Barrie, Stetcher and Hughes) in the top 4.
And that 2nd line of Hughes and Stetcher looks soft as butter.
Mobile yes, but I feel like they'd be chewed up on D and i don't see Stecher as seasoned enough to support Quinn, who as much as we expect to be a messiah, is a rookie.
