Still cannot believe that both Tampa and the leaf´s got let off the hook so easily.

It appears that way now but next year at the draft which is said to be pretty deep they will be lamenting about giving a first away for 1 year remaining on a bad contract.
Benning may regret his deal, I guess expectation is going to be huge in Canuck land the next two years. When you stick your neck out like that, that's when "Murphy's Law" rears its ugly head.

I got roasted on Flames nation for my suggestion of offering up Kyllington & Neal to Ottawa for Anderson. My thought process was ridding ourselves of 4 more years of Neal at 5.75mill as my expectations are not too high he rebounds next year & this will be a horrible contract for us going forward. We also get a pretty credible 1B to back up Rittch for 1 year + add cap space to easily sign Chucky, Benny & Ritter & Magpie & even leave us some $$$ to get a steal deal on someone like Simmonds who may find it hard to get a deal given the cap hell of so many teams. Simmonds on the 3rd line with PP time gives us some of that physical component we have been whining we lacked.

I would do that. Tough to lose Kylington. Has real high ceiling but could also never amount to much either.

Still to early to know. But getting rid of Neal would be huge.

I agree with the thinking of moving Kylington; not that I want to move him, but because we would not be able to protect all our D as it is. I disagree with moving him along with Neal to acquire Anderson. Andersen is another old broken down G and id rather move Kyl alone to acquire a piece we need now and could possibly protect for the expansion draft. I think Neal has a good shot at bouncing back and there is no worry of having to protect him. If he bounces back we might actually be able to move him later without giving up assets.

If 1 year of Marleau cost a 1st round pick to unload than Neal is going to cost a poop load to dump on someone.

The Canucks/Flames/Oilers are stuck with Neal/Lucic/Eriksson

Indeed their contracts are almost as bad as Voracek 5 x 8.25mm, JVR's 4 x 7mm & Hayes at 5 x 7.14mm!

The bottom 3 players are not as bad as the trio of Canadian teams players ...they actually put up offensive numbers

Overpaying for offence isn’t that bad ...overpaying for guys to do sweet (frank) all is

I'd do that too, in a second. I have to believe Calgary would have to eat some salary though...maybe a lot of salary. Personally, I think we're stuck with Neal and are left hoping for a better year.

I think Simmonds would be like Neal, just not mobile enough to keep up on the pp, so someone cheaper for physical play could be picked up (and go for someone faster...Hartman would have worked for less)

What kinda pisses me off about Neal is that he never really looked for other ways to contribute. If someone is hacking JG he should be out there hacking back.

He was absolutely snake bitten this year and I really hope he gets his groove back. I think a long summer will help.

What people are forgetting is that even Tampa's salary dumps are good players that other teams want. Miller is a top six forward on most teams signed to a decent number for the next 4 years. Vancouver really doesn't care how much they're helping Tampa because someone was going to do it, and the Canucks got a player who instantly makes them better.

There's a pretty good chance the Canucks are a playoff team this year. I actually think all three Pacific playoff spots will go to Canadian teams.
