I'd be interested in signing brassard or Marcus Johansson for 2nd line center

I buy that (even though I think he'd go for more), but they're not taking back a bad player even if its for one year.

Unless he's got an obvious preferred destination, I think LA would let him pre negotiate to maximize trade value if they can't sign him themselves.

- Sabresfan-365

That would be smarter. Not even sure if he gets moved. Just looking at possible rentals.

Johansson really wants to stay in Boston. He's said as much and that if the B's call, they'll "work something out".

am a big fan of going after Johansson...in fact he'd be priority-one...that said, I think he's better on the win, which is cool, because the sabres need a top-nine winger

I think this years draft was solid for no other reason than they finally picked someone in the first round outside of the top 2 that's actually worth their draft position.

yup...it happens...there's also a little thing called development which, obviously, hasn't been one of buffalo's strong points...

it's tough to turn around a losing environment and the players drafted by the sabres for all those post-core years have been walking into that

Yeah that makes sense. I just looked at the Bruins cap, man do they have their guys on affordable contracts.

One interesting take away (to me anyways), was how involved Ralph was in the draft and combine. Seems a bit unusual and encouraging. Wonder if we'll see it again during dev camp.

Nyquist would be interesting on the wing as well.

Like Winnipeg did with Trouba? Do any teams actually do that?

And hopefully he'll be very involved in courting free agents. The man has the gift of gab.

not as big on him, but yeah, he'd work, depending upon the contract

Ducks did it with Andersen. Like I said, if there's a preferred destination already in mind, it's hard to do.

But if you're just trying to get value it's in your best interest to allow the team trading for him to turn him from a rental to a long term asset to get more value.

But when a restaurant messes up your favorite dish twice I guarantee you will go to a different place

Just like pizza if it sucks two times in a row it’s probably going to suck the third time

I totally agree, but it doesn't seem like the norm.

I like the Nyquist idea, but I'm scared of the potential cost.

Bring in free agents just for fun or give us some kind of hope

Vegas did it with stone as well. Agreements in principle happen more often than what's reported.

How much more would an agreement mean in the return? I have no idea what Toffoli is worth.

depends how the kings view him, but I think he could have as big an impact as Skinner/Reinhart. There isn't a whole lot I wouldn't move for the signed version of him.

The question is if they believe the same, meaning LA.

Also, he'll be 29 at the end of his first UFA season. How much and for how long would the contract need to be? His underlying numbers may be great, but he'll also need to produce goals and shoot a high percentage too as that has been a downward trend.
