but the data shows that his attacks are in vain and that he has no idea what he's doing in his own end.

As a general rule, the micro stats like entries and exits shouldn't contradict the data unless they're what's causing the bad results.

Yeah, but very, very good players get traded all the time for financial considerations. Saying "if he was good, he'd still be there" is disingenuous.

As a blanket statement sure. But for Montour specifically you'd say that's true no?

I guess it depends what he wants. The Ducks are down to 3 good defensemen.

I would think he and Lindholm would make a good pairing.

Too bad the The skill doesn’t transfer

I really don’t like making fun of people’s weight but when your an athlete and you have all the talent and you’re just pissing it away for food and gaming that makes me angry

The more you read through these boards, i get the impression most wouldnt trade our 1st for Crosby because of his cap hit.

Leafs fans turning on "greedy Marner". They seem to want him to sign an offer sheet so they get the picks or match and trade him.

Apparently his dad is a piece of work.

TV show recommendation of the day : What We Do In The Shadows (on Fx). Freakin' hilarious - check it out. Was a movie back in 2014 i think, but the TV show is better. Another mocumentary (think Reno 911 and The Office), but this time it's about vampires living in Staten Island. My favorite parts are any scene's with Colin Robinson, an "energy" vampire who sucks the life and energy out of people simply by talking to them in their work cubicles about something tedious and boring.

Guhle is a puck moving / zone exit machine. Which is great. All the recent Sabres d they drafted are good at that too.

The issue with guhle is that he doesn’t have the offensive upside. Yes in Rochester he averaged .5 points per game in the ahl.

1) .5 in the ahl is nothing crazy
2). He didn’t get pp time

But if you watched montour or guhle .... who do you want to run a PP on top of the funnel? Montour. His shot passing and skill set is better in the o zone.

Guhle will never be good or great in the offense zone.

And as we all know, they are geniuses. The Guhle part I get, the earlier you can recognize a failing prospect, the quicker you can pull off a deal for a valuable player, so that it's not a wasted investment. Not saying he is or isn't, just that I recognize the value in doing that.

But it depends on your definition of quality. Whatever Montour brings offensively, he gives back defensively over the course of a season. This is all in a sheltered role by the way. When the ducks gave him any kind of defensive responsibility, he crapped himself.

So you are saying Mintour makes Ristlainen redundant.
Sounds like if you insert his name, this is the description we are hoping for with R it sto when they move mountains to shelter him....all at$5.4 for a 3rd pairing guy.

One should go.

You're talking about a guy that is barely in the league and has struggled in the minors. Now he is a machine?

I haven't been listening to the radio, nor reading up on FA visits.
Any news of substance on who the Sabres are/will be talking to?

Taking Ek's words with a grain of salt, I'm not interested in Anders Lee.

Hopefully Botts is working with Vegas, San Jose, and contacting the likes of Dzingel, Nyquist, Perry, Pavelski, or whomever else he sees as a fit here.

I know there is still a lot of time before anything will really happen, but I am ready for the dominoes.
