numerous times on twitter, Carp has said it's very likely that Buchnevich gets traded

we shall see, but he wouldn't just say that for no reason, he's been hearing something

For me, Buch has been a huge disappointment. From what I've heard, he's one of those never to train harder than he have to - cheating as soon as the coaches turn away. You know the type. That's btw a 180 compared to Zuke...!

maybe this is why Buch was never considered a top prospect in the first place

I thought he finally turned a corner last season though, maybe enough to give himself decent trade value

you know, I was thinking, if Dallas had beaten St Louis, and that pick we had gotten this year from Dallas was around 29 instead of 49, I think there's still a good chance we would have taken Matthew Robertson anyway

absolutely!

Gorton at the wheel sure as hell feels better than ol' Slats having the final saying when it comes to wheeling and dealing.

I was hoping for Grewe, but it's probably a good reason why he fell to #66. Didn't know much about Robertson, but they say there's a chance he could be elite.

I know I've taken a few digs at Buch. However he's a .5 ppg player over now a couple seasons. Let's not pretend he's a complete bust, especially considering we got him in the flippin 3rd round. If he does have work ethic issues, lets hope DQ is nipping that in the bud.

I hope so. I know you guys reference the BSB article a few pages earlier. Man that was cringe worthy. Like I get why you would compare Gusev to Dadorov, but to just take for fact that he would put up 65 pts next year is sort of laughable. If he really was projected that high, no way Vegas would just give him up for a song.

Buch finally seemed to get it together at the end of the season. Maybe something clicked and he is busting his ass this summer. He had better have a strong showing in camp, or he might lose his spot in the lineup. Quinn doesn't seem to put up with lack of effort, if he needs to "Kovalev shift" him to get the message through, then do it.

He (Buch) has also gotten better each year. It does take time for a player to find his footing and learn what it takes to be a contributing player night in/out . Like we always hear, "it's a process" and "he's figuring out how to be a pro." If he is traded, I don't think it's b/c NYR doesn't want him, or that he isn't/can't be a good top six player, but rather that his value is better served as a trade chip to either clear cap space or bring in other player(s) that is better for the team's future.

Yeah, pretty much this. If we do trade him, I want it to be a prudent move. We shouldn't just give him away just for the sake of not having to sign him.

Gorton doesn't seem like an emotional guy. I don't he does anything w/out looking at the long term goals/ramifications of every move.

If we packaged Buch and Georgy, with one of our high prospects, they could probably get one if the RFAs like Meier. SJ could definitely use Georgy

Unless we seriously clear space, I just think Meier would preclude us for Panarin. Meier would be a great addition to the team for sure.

Yea that would be if they miss on Panarin. SJ is ripe to get fleeced with cap issues, they need to pursue them. Hertl would fit nicely also
