If you were realistic, you’d know how valuable a guy like Saad is, especially come playoff time. - Ogilthorpe2
It’s befuddling how the “Saad is bad” argument can run parallel to the “we need size for the playoffs” appeal and yet some can’t seem to connect the dots. |

Exactly. Toronto got off cheap is my point. Good move from their side. The Canes got hosed. - Elbows15
Be interesting to know how much money changed hands behind the scenes for the Canes to be able to buy out Marleau. Wonder if the NHL will investigate this? Wooops, I just gave Enforcer a tin foil moment. |

you can be sure ,even in this great draft year, of the top 15, there will be 5 duds, if ultimately Dach is one of them, that will not bode well for many in the Blackhawk fan base, and with information and interest provided SB and Kelley will look terrible. I HOPE IM WRONG. this is a bloodsport with the fans too. |

I doubt that. Even though the nhl protects the guys that cheap shot from enforcers. Even though I hate reaves he's the toughest guy in the league. - vandymeer23
Who did the Bruins have on the roster when Marc Savard's career was ended with a cheap shop, one of your favorites LOOOOOOOOOCH was on the ice at that moment and was uanble to "protect" Savard. The Bruins also had some other tough dudes in Chara, McQuaid and Shawn Thornton. No enforcer can protect any player from cheapshots only tough NHL rules can do that |

hopefully Basse can break the mold for netminders. Let's hope playing in the NCAA at Colorado College will boost his development and amp his stock. - AEL_Fox
Basse will play in the USHL this yr for the Youngstown Phantoms, a 2019 4th rd pick of YT. Come out to Fox Valley when YT comes to town next season for a look see.
He was just in their camp and I talk to a guy who blogs about YT, said he was impressed with the kid at camp, especially his poise. Thought he moved well at 6ft 6in and tracked nicely.

Hear from CC commit Dominic Basse ahead of the NHL Draft this weekend. The 6’6” netminder from Alexandria, VA will play for Youngstown in the USHL this fall, scheduled to join the Tigers for the 2020-21 season.

Hopefully there’s a big rush on the top end UFAs and Stan can focus on Tanev.
Does anyone have any feedback on Riley Sheahan? On paper he seems like a decent option for the 4th line but I haven’t seen him play enough to form an opinion. - DarthKane
Really like Tanev too hopefully Stan can get him under the radar, which seems to be his MO as of late! |

I don t think Stastny at $6.5 and 35 is better than Anisimov at $4.5. When was the last time Stastny hit 50 points? What other parts of his game is $2;mil. better than Anisimov? I covet Eakin because he is signed for only 1 year. - LAHawk
not an upgrade and possibly a downgrade: 13 mil for 2 more years...no thanks at age 33

If Karlsson is the prize that McPhee/Vegas need to keep, you would assume that they will have to part with someone they are NOT looking forward to losing. At least, that is what a shrewd GM would do based on knowing the squeeze that the cap is causing.
My bet is that one D and one F would need to go from Vegas' roster with some cheaper players, a prospect and a pick(s) coming back.
Say hello to Eakin and McNabb! Tuch would be a steal but don't see it happening |

Hawks want to upgrade that line 1 LW...rumored to want Lee (who will stay in NYI..or cost 7x7 minimum like Hayes)
They'd get 30yr old Max at 4yr 30mil deal left |

Well Dale being superior to Stan is the easiest. Instead of native apps, it's narrative apps. Tinfoiltalks or different filters for what a douche would look like in an Indian head sweater. |

He has been on Stan’s radar in the past - and has only 4yrs left on his deal. Far less term to commit too than other suggested options. |

I think Eakin is less term and less dollars. Eakin likely gives more flexibility for additional deals to address the blue line. |

Between Eakin, Haula and Max - Eakin all the way for me. Haula was injured and out for almost the entire season - is he back to 100%? His skating was a big part of his game so if the injury has taken some of the speed away - he's not going to be the same dynamic player he was. I would need to see him back in action and we won't see that until next season. Max is way overpaid for 4 more years for the production he's had the last couple years. Eakin plays center at half the cost of Max and provides the same level of scoring. |

Want to ask everyone...
Why not Offer Sheet Marner?
If he is as good as everyone says (one said better than Matthews even), then why not? Yes, you give up 4 number 1’s, but you figure you will make runs at cups and right now have a good mix of veterans and youth. Plus, it’s in the timeline of Toews, Kane and Keith.
Been a long time reader of these blogs.
Interested in opinions, thanks. |

The main reason would be the problem of having 3 $10M+ players on the roster would have on the ability to construct a team around them that could be competitive - especially now that we know the cap growth is being slowed down for 2019/20 and 2020/21.
