81.5M. Can the Leafs catch a break??
- RedRevenge

Meh, Marleau is gone.

Z will be soon hopefully and new RHD will come in.

Marner also gets less money now because of cap percentages.

Theres always a choice. See Tampa getting a first while shedding salary.

Had to give up a pretty good player.

You remind me of Leaf fans from 2006-2015 clambering about prospects that never turn out.
- Santo_44

That's hardly comparable, Queefs have had high picks since the 60s. It wasn't until the last couple years that the Habs have had higher picks. It doesn't take a donkey to know it's harder to find diamonds in the rough in the later rounds of the draft

JT Miller had trade value. What real value do any of us think Marleau had?

Agents go by cap % so all it means Marner will be forced to sign for less than expected.

Not a big deal..

Draft picks turn out and sometimes they don't.

You will be surly disappointing if you think all your prospects will turn out.

Ours turned out better than we expected in 2015-2019...2006-2015? Not so much.

Wait and see and don't get too high or too low about them. You will just be setting yourself up for disappointment.

The math on capfriendly disagrees with your statement.

Nope. Might as well fold the Leafs.

You bet, we'd be so much better off if we just had Saad at $6 Million per, Anisimov at 4.5 million per and Seabrook at 7.0 Million per. Life would be peachy.

Still think Nylander gets traded for a dman in the 3-4 range plus magic beans. If PK Subban tweets about being a handsome Devil and becomes a Devil, then Marleau tweeting about AM and MM, but not WN = goner

Saad + Anisimov + Seabrook comes with 3 Stanley Cups

Maatta at 4, and Murphy at 3.8.
- Steven_Seagull

I'm quite happy with these contracts. Only the Seabrook contract is a massive overpayment.

Kyle Dubas says it’s “status quo” on the Nikita Zaitsev trade front: “We’re willing to try to accommodate him and work with him, but we need a similar player back. We don’t have the depth on D and we don’t want to rush our prospects.”

Saad makes $6 million, played all year with Toews and Kane was on the #1 power play and numbers were similar to Johnsson who played 7 less games and way fewer minutes -- plus Johnsson will be overpaid at $3.25 million. Leafs should tear it down.

the issue isn't trading the 1st . the issue is what it was spent on.
- systemtool

Yeah but if you're losing a low first to get cap space to fit a core of elite young players on a contender, as a Leaf fan I'm not gonna get my period over it.

My expectations are tempered. Obviously I have higher expectations for some than others. Suzuki, Poehling, Brook, Romanov, Primeau, Caufield I expect to be impactful NHLers. I mean we already saw what Poehling will bring given that incredible game he had against you. 4 goals in his NHL debut

Leafs iced an AHL blueline and sat some forwards that game.

That being said, he had a big game and I expect he will be a pretty damn good player. Can see him hitting 25-30 goals next season for sure.
