A couple mistakes by Ryan Wilson:
- Poulin is from the QMJHL, not WHL;
- The Penguins have 2 5th Round Picks, not 1.
Wish we could’ve added JT Miller to our roster.
Is Barrie possible if Kessel decides to accept a trade to Colorado? |

He's lost a step, but yes, he's definitely a faster player. Faster than a lot players on the Pens roster. - Rinosaur
Maybe like 5 years ago. Not anymore. Weighed down by all the moneys he’s made and age. |

Analytics says trading up is bad especially at this point in the draft. |

I don’t see that pick amounting to anything anytime soon. I’d rather use the mid-late round picks to bolster the roster. Use the college route to add free assets while using draft picks that other GMs overvalue to acquire roster players. |

Barrie was tough to sign last go around, I don’t see his next deal coming cheap. I think we’re going to end up keeping Schultz. I don’t see how else we would replace him
I’m all for a Zaitsev for JJ swap and then we would likely need to move Rust out for a cheaper forward by cap space. The fancystat community has them about even in WAR but Zaitsev clearly could bounce back whereas with JJ we already know he’s garbage and meshes with no one.
Some will disagree on taking the additional cap hit, but I think it’s worth it. He hits, he blocks, he had a strong finish to the year (playing more with Gardiner and Muzzin but also with Hainsey and Dermott). 50% CF while starting 42% of his shifts in his own zone all while playing top 4 minutes. His relative stats aren’t good but they’re better than JJ’s and he doesn’t need to be incredibly sheltered like JJ. His possession quality was actually positive this last season. I’d like to see him away from Babcock... lol |

we've got bigger problems than trading a 4th, 5th, & 7th for a 3rd. saw on Twitter a scout had him ranked at 40. big body and uses it well, so-so skater, big time shot and scorer. No problems with this move.

Doesn’t surprise me that Chayka (the stats guy) was on the other end of that trade |

Pens use 74th pick on Nathan Legare. Various rankings:
NHL Central Scouting: 54th
Future Considerations: 33rd
Elite Prospects: 42nd
Bob McKenzie: 49th
Craig Button: 36th

Our problems are roster players and we could have used the overvalued picks to replace/unload said problems. |

Nope. He just acquired 3 more assets that have the around the same probability as making the NHL as the 3rd rounder they just traded for. |

I disagree. At this point in the draft, moving a 5th and 7th to get a 3rd is a nice job IMO. It's not like that 5th and 7th could have been used to immediately help the roster. |

What room do the Pens have to acquire anything on this roster? They may wind up having a couple of million to spend. |

3rd round still better than the 4th in a deep draft. |

Not true. I've heard plenty of drafts referred to as thin after the first few picks. |

Legare is a nice prospect. I like that the Pens traded up for a guy they were targeting. |
