You're rignt, nobody will want him. That's why we will loan him out somewhere.

We've got a pile of fourth line players. Not at all a concern.

Actually I thought about waiving Sobotka and pray he wants to loaned out. (Highly doubt he wants to go to Rochester). Save the cap space. Like what we did with kotalik

Botts has a lot to do. He knows he has change the roster and to do trades he doesn't have a lot of capital to work with. He can trade for Vesey and maybe another small trade but I wouldn't expect much.

He has $19M to spend and needs to get some RFAS's done. He also has a major selling job to convince UFA's to sign here. He has a difficult task. It wouldn't surprise me if Girgs, Larry and Sobotka are back and that won't make fans happy.

I hope he can do a trade with some of the cap strapped teams. I'm not buying the rumors of Risto but maybe he has to move him to upgrade the roster. It will leave a huge hole at RD though.

He doesn't have 19 mil to spend. He did before the Skinner deal. People keep saying they have 19-20 mil without counting the 9 mil Skinner deal.

I think Toronto and Winnipeg can be linked into that bottom category as well.
- Pegullaville

I didn't go down the list far enough but right on Toronto. We know their cap story. I'm not sure on Winnipeg. They have $24M to spend with Laine, Copp, Pionk and Beaulieau as RFA's and Chiarot and Tanev as UFA's. Those players could cost 20 and they'll still have 4 left.

Unless I'm missing something, cap friendly has Skinner's 9 in the cap hit with 19 available.

I think if we include the qualifying offers to all of our RFA’s it then dips down to $11.7M

Agree, looks like barring trades we will have 10 or so in FA's and you don't want to spend to the cap so they might only spend 6-7.

So if you have 6 to spend who do you spend it on?

They’ll have more.

I’d bet my life not all of Bogo, Risto, Sobotka, McCabe, Larsson , Girgs are back.

In fact I’d bet 3 of the above are gone

The exodus of three of those names would be very significant change, bordering on "roster surgery".

So if you trade some of these guys you might be taking on salary in return?

And what teams in the right mind would want Sobotka, Girgs, Larry or Bogo?

I would assume Some.

Ottawa might need help getting to cap floor.

Maybe, just maybe Scandella or Bogo for a year.

I think Bogo has like no salary owed and is just getting a bonus July 1

You are right I was off by a couple million:

John Vogl:

"But this is not the time to worry about its implications. The Sabres had room to add the 27-year-old’s salary. They still have at least $11 million more to spend this summer. Nearly $20 million is scheduled to come off the Sabres’ cap next summer."

Botts will go after Lee and then secondary players in FA. Trades will bring our major changes. IMO

Gotta be 7ish if he's signing for 8 years. Might be leaving a lot on the table with the contracts handed out these days.

There is literally no way Sobotka can be brought back under any circumstances. Botterill has to know that.

The sooner they sign Sam the better, he's already in the 7.5-8 range

I think Buffatax is more for ufa's, but to some degree rfa's if offer sheets become popular

I was all for getting pk now I am glad that we didnt. An article in the athletic had quotes from around the league...... Woof. Apparently he is in rapid decline. Whoever thought Montreal would end up winning that trade long term?
- Slump Buster

He can certainly bounce back, and likely will
But we aren’t in position to take a 9mil gamble on him
PK just didn’t make sense for us at this time

It wouldn’t have been a 9 mil gamble.

NJ was the only team willing to take on the full cap hit.

I think Buffalo had a offer but Nashville was going to have to eat 3 mil of it.

I’d take a 6 mil gamble on PK returning to form.

Likely? That's a stretch.
