CAR is a good example of utilizing cap space to obtain assets. VAN is an example of what NOT to do with extra cap space and utilizing it.

A lot of us like Miller, and are fine with targeting him, but we feel like Jim overpaid due to Tampa's situation and the fact that Miller is coming off of his worst goal scoring season since 2015.

Not when the team looking to trade the top 6 player was in cap hell, and the player was coming off a down season with that team. He spent a decent chink of time in their doghouse on the 4th line and they were desperate to shed his 5.25M cap hit.
