yeah, I was expecting to have a minor complaint about Jim giving top a 3rd + another 3rd next year or something, hey made it sound like the 3rd was the main piece going the other way and then Daly drops that bomb on us.

The crowd was shook

- Nucker101

That's exactly what I said
Ok a 3rd rounder isnt bad............. then Daly kept talking and said 1st rounder.

The Lightning have traded forward J.T. Miller to Vancouver for a conditional first-round pick in 2020, a third-round selection in 2019 and goaltender Marek Mazanec. Should the Canucks not make the playoffs in 2019-20, the first-round selection will move to the 2021 draft.

2019 3rd

+

2020 or 2021 1st

it's 2020 first rounder they gave up if the Canucks make the playoffs, if they miss the playoffs then it's the 2021 1st round pick they give up no matter what

- Nucker101

I'm just sad that Van doesn't have a 3rd round pick.

Basically all the players I wanted in the third round have now been taken though

I’m stunned and I’m not even a Nucks fan....like you couldn’t use it for Barrie at least?

I just get that Ottawa senators feeling in what they went through this year.

Miller seems like a fine pickup, but that price is upsetting. If it was Toronto's pick that we just got for buying out Marleau, I'd be much happier.

I think I like Miller than most in here do, but trading away future 1sts before this team has even made the playoffs is just dumb.

Miller will be a solid pickup, he's better than Sven.

this trade makes ABSOLUTE sense if we traded and obtained the 1st rounder that CAR did with the Marleau trade.

Really? The 3rd round pick is what you're sad about?

God damn, put that one in the book.

Team makes trades to get better and some think the team will now be back to a bottom 5 team.

Van isn't Ottawa. Van has 2 good goaltenders and top 4 D not one single young D and no goaltending

Yeah I didn’t think about that I was still stuck on the trade itself......when you are rebuilding you don’t trade 1sts

Does JB has some kind of staff or something? No one near him said "NO" to him?

Sometimes you have to pay a price to get better. JT Miller is on a good mid level contract for the next 5 years? You won't see the 2020 or 2021 first round pick for probably 5 years.

But that’s not what happened tho....well Miller isn’t bad by any means I’m just not sure that’s the price I would pay....helps Tampa out too with cap

but you are building for today and the future, not just today. If we are a playoff team, dealing 1st round picks is a little easier, but we are literally still rebuilding and dealing future 1sts. Its bad man, no matter how you spin it.
