What do player moves have to do with grading draft choices?

What they have seemingly done is get good value for their choices. I have no idea about the players taken after the 2nd round but what it looks like is they chose players who were ranked a decent amount higher. More boom or bust types and that is fine for rounds 3-7.

Oh. Vlasic isn't a true defensive D-man. There is offense to his game. Not so much points at this point but more outlet passes and creating space with movement.

You're right. True defensive defenseman wasn't the right descriptor. Maybe more defensively minded and developed but still has offensive skills.

Don't know if I want to acquire the RFA rights to extend Gusev. What if the only reason he came over was to play in Vegas? If traded he may want to go home to the Motherland.

He said he needs two seasons at BU. After that, would assume the Hawks try to give him a shot to make the team. Otherwise a little bit of seasoning in Rockford.

They could probably get Stastny from Vegas for practically nothing if they pick up Clarkson's contract. That gives you a solid veteran center for 2 years until Dach is truly ready. If Dach is ready to go in year 2, you could easily move Stastny at the deadline.


If Vegas is really close to signing Karlsson, they are going to have to shed around $15 million. We could throw in a 2nd and a prospect and take Tuch as well. That would solve the Vegas problem and what a forward group we would have!
