Really interesting times. Glad to see Dorion taking very low profile. Teams are pretty desperate to offload salary (Subban, Tavares, Kadri, Kapanen). Winnipeg shopping Ehlers. Marner is going to begin a tour of teams next week to try and asses the viability of an offer sheet.

Sens have to ignore all the noise. Some very good players will be moved because of CAP pressures. But if a deal looks too good to be true...it is probably a dud.

But, some of the names will be very tempting.

I'm hoping for one of the following players:
Moritz Seider
Victor Soderstrom
Alex Newhook
Thomas Harley

The hard CAP is a reality in more ways than it has ever been before. CAP space is an asset. Nobody is a bigger mess than the Leafs. They took on a high school sophomore as GM and he proceeded to give Marner's money to Tavares.

Not many teams have the ability to take on serious salary additions. I believe the Sens are in a great position to make a few strategic deals. Should they not target Kadri? Indications are it would cost a 2nd round pick or third line centre on a good contract.

Also hoping for Newhook but if he’s gone then Suzuki, Tomasino, Soderstrom, Brink, York in that order.

I really think they should try to swing a deal with TB to get Callahan’s contract and a sweetener

As always, you being so wrong, and so bitter, will be so much fun.

Just spend your time enjoying Colorado's pick this evening. Better still, do something productive and create a design for the cover that goes over the next section of seats the Sens take off the market. Maybe a big Crusty the Clown would work well?

Aetherial... Shut your yap. Spatso makes comments you can only imagine you'd understand in your dreams.

The best you do is insult people to no end. You are the 🤡 and prove to be a hater every time you insult spatso or others for no reason.

Spatso never insults anyone and just provides his analysis which you and your ilk can't handle.

Grow up

Wait, I thought you were D'oops?

Are you really Spatso's mom?

Hey, have you made more friends trashing the Leafs on all the other teams threads lately? They think you are a really cool guy! No, really!!

Agree spatso. You should live blog the draft. Your analysis would be appreciated.

Love it when a fan of a team that hasn't made a Cup final in 52 years talks trash.

Did you know the Leafs have NEVER made a Stanley Cup final when there were more than 5 other teams in the league?

Fun fact: The Senators HAVE made the Cup final in the last 12 years and had to actually get by 29 other team to do it.

Fun fact 2: The Senators have won more playoff rounds than the Leafs have since your beloved team hired Babcock.

I would rather be a Senators fan (I'm not) than a Leaf fan any day of the week!

Completely different franchise. I'm not at all shocked that you didn't know that, though. Education tends to be sparse in Winterpeg.

How many shootings in Toronto today? I am betting more than Cup wins in the last half century!

Sorry, perhaps I am wrong. But, I strongly believe Dubas and the Leafs made a huge mistake in signing Tavares to a long term deal. He is certainly worth the $11m last year and maybe next...but 7 years! Everything has changed over the past few years. Guys coming off their entry level deal want near max money. The old model was broken with McDavid, Matthews and other young guns. It is not rocket science to understand how the old model of compensation has been entirely crushed. Top young players want compensation based on current performance.

Dubas created a mess in the form of a CAP crisis when there was no need for it. CAP space is an asset. Do not rush to use it up. As young players develop you will need the space to preserve your talent pool.

Too bad. I hoped they might move up to 8 (Edmonton) or 10 (Vancouver) as both picks were rumoured to be available.

Hey Punch! haven't seen you since you trolled the Leafs thread during an NBA game 6 and then mysteriously disappeared.

I don’t mind that pick. The opinion seems to be that he went a bit high, but it seems that outside of the top 10, everyone between 11 and about 40 were almost interchangeable. They’ll still get a real good player at 32, and now they have their RHD

Feels like a bit of a reach to me. But Dorion has done this with Dmen before. Certainly seems they could have traded down, but maybe no one was willing. Time will Tell I suppose

Dorion really seems to think that 32nd over all pick is going to be in flux, he mentioned it on the draft floor, and they discussed it on the TEAM today.

If one of the centres (lavoie, Suzuki) are still there, or kaliyev (can’t imagine that will happen) then I would snag one of them....if not than I would definitely consider moving the pick.

I've said it many times... RHD often jump up the draft board, because it's an absolute nightmare to trade for them.

Based on this, I'm pretty happy with the Lassi Thomson pick... especially given that Seider and Soderstrom (the other top RHD in the draft) were both off the board by pick #11.
