I think once GMs know the cap we will start to see more activity, especially leading up to free agency. |

Rutherford: "People are thinking there’s going to be a lot of turnover with the Penguins. I don’t think there was ever that intention. We wanted to make some changes. We wanted to change a little bit of the culture in the room. We started to do that."
Rutherford said it's "highly unlikely" Malkin or Letang will be moved. |

Maatta was obviously the problem. |

Shipping out Ollie Maatta isn't exactly changing the culture in the room. Every sports guy in town says he's the nicest kid they've ever met. |

JR is walking back his comments because he can’t find trades for the players he wants to move. |

The only player he really, really wants to move is Kessel. I never bought into the Malkin stuff. For that matter, I don't buy into the Letang "rumors". |

Well at least Rutherford hasnt been running his mouth for a month saying who he wanted to trade... that'd be less than ideal if he came to find out that no one wanted those said players. so now he either has to do nothing or trade guys who arent part of the problem and just trade them for the sake of trading them...
At least Shero kept his ideas to himself and navigated this stuff well. Rutherford just comes out and says he wants to trade Kessel and then comes out again and says no one has been calling for Kessel. If you were a team on the fence about trading for Kessel, would you seriously make a fair value offer for him? Rutherford just backs himself into a corner for no reason. |

Everyone should read this.
Rino I liked what I read about him. He could be a good winger for us. Perhaps top 6 material! - Barnaby36
I should temper my immediate reaction. I felt there were better players available. |

Seriously nobody got traded today???? Lame!
Everyone is mad that the pens drafted a kid vs some other kid that neither would have any affect on the roster until Crosby is ready to hang em up?
Boring day in hockey. |

Not really. Read this:

Well that certainly makes me feel a little better about him. Reminds a lot of Kasper Bjorkqvist with a higher ceiling.
Two things seem like big unknowns -- skating and NHL readiness. They said on NBCSN many times about how he's no where close to NHL ready despite many scouting reports I've read that say he's one of the more NHL ready players in the draft. |

Teams that want Kessel, want Kessel. Not the first time Phil had trade rumors surrounding him. He can deal with it. If he starts the season on the roster, he will top 70pts. If he’s traded, he will bring back a good asset |

I believe he denied Johnson was a part of the Kessel trade. |

Pens asked about Puljujarvi, Oilers asked for Rust. Dunno if something transpires. |

#21 Samuel Poulin PIT
#26 Jakob Pelletier CGY
Only players taken on the 1st Round from the QMJHL.
I guess Poulin was consensus #1 there. |

Where did you read this Nelson? I’d probably think about this trade. It’s not like Rust has been lights out. Puljujarvi could pay big dividends. |

Gross.
Unless this would be a cap move for a bigger move. |

A couple decent prospects slipped down to the 2nd round. I wonder if the pens could have traded down with Carolina or Ottawa. Trade the #21 overall for two of their second round picks. Poulin could have been had in the 2nd as well as Bobby Brink or Arthur Kaliyev. |
