Wow. According to sekeres, Louis moving his family back to Dallas? Is this real? ❤️🎈? - CanuckDon
Jim said this morning Loui won't return his calls. Weisbrod just said they talked to Loui at the exit meetings they knew there was a problem and they wanted to fix it. They were surprised it became public knowledge but they knew all along there was an issue.

You nailed it from a couple weeks back saying Sign Edler 2 years and give him the nudge nudge wink wink we will sign you again in two more years.

I just came to the conclusion that it was the most logical option. He'll probably still be our best D next year, maybe even the year after. I truly believe he wants to stay, so as long as he gets his NMC then term and salary are easily negotiable.

JB/DumbBroad must be awful communicators... They’re caught off guard by a LOT of pretty important sh!t.
I think this all started with the McDavid 12.5m. Stars are going to get paid now, which will leave less money for the middle 6 type players. Teams will have to wheel and deal to keep multiple Star players as well. It won't be long until every team has at least 2 11m+ players, some with 3-4 of them. - Retinalz

Good call. I never thought he would give up the third year.

I was just curious. I wouldn't want to give anything too substantial for him but if Nashville wants to get out of that contract we can digest $9M for 3 years, as long as Lu's contract doesn't (frank) us too hard.

They weren't caught off guard at all. I think what they politely told Loui at the exit meeting that he wasn't coming back . They just didn't think he would bring it to the public. I also don't think they really care either because at their exit meeting they said we will look at the Loui situation.
They really on top of things more than you think they are.

Pleading ignorance has always been their strong suit.

You’d have to be an absolute moron to think a player & his agent wouldn’t go out & get ahead of something like that.
Loui(at the time) was the best UFA available, and his deal has technically been better for us than Ladd for NYI, Okposo for Buff, Lucic for EDM. - Retinalz
Not being the absolutely worst is not a great consolation prize.

Don’t think anything is coming cheap and I don’t trust our guys to negotiate a deal that benefits the team.

That's fine, and I was for LE more than Lucic who really was the only alternative to possibly sign here at the time. However, I was strongly against either one.
You don't sign UFA's at the beginning of a rebuild, it's counter productive.

OR they could just take the high road and not throw the guy under the bus and air dirty laundry in public.
I even suspect once they boot his ass off the team they will remain classy and say he was a leader good for the young guys even though every fiber in them wants to say good bye you lazy POS.
