More to do with the PP system & no one timer threat on the right side. Stetcher couldn’t kill a fly against the boards with his shot lol
- Nighthawk

EP is a one timer threat from there... and from a more realistic distance than the old school wind up & hope it gets through or ricochets in from the actual blue line BS.

Never mind I think you were responding to something else... I’m on like 3hrs of sleep so I probably make even less sense than usual today.

Congrats to Pettersson. I think if awards were for regular season & playoffs, Binnington has an argument. But Pettersson 100% deserved it for the regular season, and it's nice to see they didn't screw this one up.

But it’s not & for obvious reasons.

You still would ideally like another righty on that unit though. EP, Hughes, and Horvat are all lefties with Brock being the only righty.

Anton Stralman or Tyler Myers?

Just came across a new write up on one of my favs in this draft for those who are unfamiliar with Bobby Brink.

https://www.scoutinghocke...ayer-profile-bobby-brink/

I’ve brought up Brink awhile ago. He would be my other 1st rounder if we got another pick. Beecher i am also keen on.

Excellent work as usual Carol.

As for the question if the Canucks sign Gardiner and move Hutton, do they need to do more?

I would say signing Gardiner was too much already but i'm clearly in a different thought process of a lot of people.

Hughes and Edler can play power play. I don't expect Hughes to be a staple on the PK and Gardiner played 0:08 per game on the PK in Toronto.

3 capable PP left side defence and only 1 that will play the PK.

- manvanfan

If Hughes could truly play his offside then that opens up much more options. It’s a wait & see if TG is a staunch L/R only pairing coach.

I could see Boston taking Beecher with their pick. They have been known to pick centres with 3L upside in the first round.

@DhaliwalSports says on the air on @Sportsnet650 that #Canucks GMJB heavily pursuing Tyson Barrie right now in trade talks with the Avs.

Discuss

Makar makes him more expendable & maybe they think Byram falls to them. It has traction.

Re: PP1

When you have an accurate cannon in each faceoff circle (BB & EP) you don’t really need a shooter at the point. That’s antiquated PP stuff. The NTDP PP from this year was my fav to watch maybe ever & we almost have the pieces to replicate it...

- DrChristianTroy

A point shooter draws out the box & opens up passing lanes & one timers from the circles.

Duelly facoff circle shooters with a rover & mobile elite distributor up top destroys the box.

You're not getting Barrie unless that pick is in play.
- 1970vintage

Disagree unless a bigger package & 16oa is in play.

Edler taking shots from the right takes away from EP’s setup & gives EP a much worse feed angle (and feed passer). I swear - a lot of you will be shocked when you see how pinpoint Quinn’s passes are. He puts the puck on a tee for you (we’ve never seen anything like it in Van) I can’t (frank)ing wait
- DrChristianTroy

True other than Hughes roving changes D coverage & who shifts where.

Still dreaming of Panarin & do what it takes to sign him. If Barrie was added wow just wow. Just imagine the play making & puck movement we would have. Overnight teams would fear that potential.

Say we get Barrie & it involves our 10th & their 16th in the package & we could take Brink. Beecher i have late 1st or could slide to top 40.

Would you trade Q Hughes for an aging D man, with zero offensive ability, is injury prone and has one year left at an attractive cap hit, and a player who is still young, but by all accounts will never live up to his draft position?

If talking the AV’s they need defensive D & top 6 scoring depth. Much depends on what the package ends up being. It won’t be cheap but a huge deal in the end. My curiosity is on a high lol
