I don’t get it. Sure, trade Virt to improve the team but that 2020 first will be a lottery pick. Too risky IMO.

I get in in the "Aqua wants to make the playoffs" idea.

I don't get it that Barrie is almost 28 and isn't going to help the team when they're ready to compete. Canucks aren't really in a position to load up on guys that will take them over the top.

If protected, then why would Avs do it? I’m sure they can get an unprotected first for him.
- bloatedmosquito

No risk no reward for either team.

If we want to move into the top 5 it will require one of Horvat, Boeser, Hughes or Demko in that trade.

No way.

- LordHumungous

If Byram is there at 4 you trade Tanev 10th Demko and whatever else not named brock quinn or bo

De next year

Edler Barrie Byram Quinn Myers Stetcher Schenn

Marky is fine until Dipitro is ready make the deal

Byram is going to be an absolute stud

They may even want sutter if we take back a crap contract as well

It’s some reward for van but not much. He’s another fragile dman.

I agree, but hows the rest of the roster? Solid top four to get us near the playoffs, but not do much else? I just don't want to splurge for a 28 year old D who's going to start to decline as the rest of the team hits their prime. If he was 25, for sure! But not right now.

Why would Colorado do that?

Solid top four? Maybe to start the season but we all know injuries are a sure bet. I think we need depth more than one big name. Use assets to build team depth, not marketability.

1. Byram is still a few years away from making an impact at the NHL level

2. You just traded 2020 1st and Virtanen for Barrie. So what are you giving up to go from 10 to 3?

From a team as poopty as us? Doubt it. Not to mention that Barrie is more likely to resign in Van

These trade suggestions are good discussion points but trade scenarios like yours above just don’t happen. Our team has already shown they can’t consistently get value for their disposable players. Then it becomes a conversation of hope rather than reality.

What are we supposed to say instead of retard now that it is politically and societally incorrect to say retard?

I did not.

Heres my deal

Demko Tanev 10th overall Gaudette Sutter for Barrie 4th crap contract

Edler Barrie Hughes Byram Stetcher Woo Schenn

Go sign Myers

I’d say no if I were Colorado. Also, if I’m Myers, Vancouver is pretty low on my list.

Also, neither Woo nor Byram will play in the NHL next year.

You have to help me out... so why are the Avs trading Barrie now? Does he want out?

He’s signed through this year. I think Avs might get something better at the trade deadline no?

For a two season contract followed by UFA status?

I'd rather try and sign Gardiner with the owners money and keep the pick and Jake.
