Canucks are definitely getting closer but there’s still a lot of work to be done. The defense is still a hot mess and there’s a massive need for a couple more top six wingers. Not to mention it was recently publish that Vancouver has one of the least effective bottom six groups as far as producing offence in the entire league.

That doesn’t automatically make it better, Eriksson doesn’t play enough to say him gone makes us instantly better, he was good on the PK. Replacing Hutton with someone who’s better defensively will help, but just getting rid of him doesn’t help, you need better players to make that statement true.

Two years ago Calgary finished 3 spots higher with three more points than Vancouver did this year. They finished in 2 nd place last year , one year later. It doesn't take a decade to change your team to make the playoffs.

Vancouver will be in the hunt for the playoffs this year even if they get tossed in a first round sweep like the Flames or Bolts it is still a learning experience.

Bottom line is they need better players, Benning hasn’t been renewed for a reason, beyond drafting well, which shouldn’t be that difficult when drafting top seven (5-5-6-7) in his five years, largely a product of Brackett imo, he hasn’t really made the team significantly better through other measures.
