Damn iPhone...

1. Go to Settings > General > Keyboard

Getting to the PO’s is the far more immediate goal & cup contending the next phase. It’s not done all at once.

Since it is a bonus pick, maybe they trade down with it to get roster depth?
- carsonagenic

They are interested in byrom so it's extremely doubtful they trade down

Truth be told, I’m not as high on Barrie as most here. He’s great, no doubt, but turns 28 this year. He has what, 3 more peak years? The Canucks will be starting to contend just as Barrie is starting to decline? Would rather just target the 4oa if Byram is there.

Are you saying Red Deer is the taint of Alberta?
- 1970vintage

Let's just say that per capita it's one of the busiest crime zones in the country. Plus the winters (frank)*ing suck here.

Tyson Barrie is pretty much the pooptier version of Erik Karlsson.

Last year was his first in 5 years that he was a plus 5v5 player. I would take him as a 2nd pairing defender but better pay a 2nd pairing 3/4 price and not a 1st pairing price.

I don't know what the price would be but I don't know if it would be worth it, unless we all are left laughing at how cheap JB got him for. Which I doubt would ever happen.

Difficult to outwardly seek a guy with a big name that the team doesn’t have to move and get him for cheap.

With Chicago looking at Turcotte, would prefer targeting the fourth. If Byram is there, could package OJ with the 10th as a starting point.

If we want to move into the top 5 it will require one of Horvat, Boeser, Hughes or Demko in that trade.

No way.

The blues already had a playoff roster and changed coaches and found a goalie

There’s no real comparison

I’m actually surprised you haven’t been banging the coaching change drum more lol

Two years ago Calgary finished 3 spots higher with three more points than Vancouver did this year. They finished in 2 nd place last year , one year later. It doesn't take a decade to change your team to make the playoffs.

Vancouver will be in the hunt for the playoffs this year even if they get tossed in a first round sweep like the Flames or Bolts it is still a learning experience.

Now that Chia is on board we can just add Larssen for Boeser and we are definitely playoff bound.

The subtraction of Eriksson Hutton Pouliot and Granlund has to be worth 5-7 more wins

Flames missed the playoffs seven of the past ten years, including five years in a row from 09/10 to 13/14, they’ve been building for awhile now. As has Vancouver.

Yes, but the point is, is that Calgary didn’t just turn it around in a short period of time. Ya they finished poorly only a few years ago but they had a lot of building blocks to where they could trade a few prospects and first round picks. They’re probably three years ahead of Vancouver.

I doubt it. Its just a smoke screen tactic for when they do something really stupid.

Canucks are definitely getting closer but there’s still a lot of work to be done. The defense is still a hot mess and there’s a massive need for a couple more top six wingers. Not to mention it was recently publish that Vancouver has one of the least effective bottom six groups as far as producing offence in the entire league.
