Congrats to Pettersson. I think if awards were for regular season & playoffs, Binnington has an argument. But Pettersson 100% deserved it for the regular season, and it's nice to see they didn't screw this one up.

Enjoy the cup... We'll miss you in the wasteland of cupless teams. Getting kind of lonely out here.

Still too many lefties, and that would make it easy for PK's to focus on Brock/EP as shooters. Replace Edler with a righty that can shoot and it would open things up for everyone.
- Nucker101

That was one of my favorite things about Edler moving on. It forces Green to use someone else on the back end of PP1.

Kind of like in Moneyball when Bean traded away a player he didn't want his manager to play. I think Burkie was a GM who would pull a move like that.

I laugh about that whole Boeser vs Edler Conspiracy. Edler just sucks on the PP. No offensive vision whatsoever.

Is there DRAMA brewing on the team?!?

No, just incompetance.

Just came across a new write up on one of my favs in this draft for those who are unfamiliar with Bobby Brink.

If they trade down, and no one falls, he'd probably be my pick out of the forwards ranked in the mid first round.

Carol Schram: Canucks extend Alex Edler @ 2x$6 million, Elias Pettersson wins the Calder
Alex Edler will stay in Vancouver for another two years after signing an extension with a no-trade clause for $6 million a season, and Elias Pettersson became the second player in Canucks history to win the Calder Trophy at Wednesday's NHL Awards in Las Vegas.

Good job JB on the signing of edler, never even thought 2 years would be possible, I was hoping though, he is learning.

Ok, which is it:

1. Resigning Edler
2. EP winning the Calder
3. Only two canucks have won a Calder
4. All of the above

Excellent work as usual Carol.

As for the question if the Canucks sign Gardiner and move Hutton, do they need to do more?

I would say signing Gardiner was too much already but i'm clearly in a different thought process of a lot of people.

Hughes and Edler can play power play. I don't expect Hughes to be a staple on the PK and Gardiner played 0:08 per game on the PK in Toronto.

3 capable PP left side defence and only 1 that will play the PK.

Look, I'm all for jettisoning the old. But its a no risk contract for a rebuilding team. We know exactly what we are getting, we got tons of cap space, and it's all about the expansion draft and protecting the small group of promising players we have.

If you walk away from Edler there's a greater chance of filling that hole with a mistake.

https://www.hockeybuzz.co...read.php?thread_id=159675

Just us rambling on about political poop so we don't bring it into the main thread. It's fun and no holds bared. Hoping to get a lot more participants during the slow months of summer.

let edler walk.

trade a 4th for bracco & marleau

sign a couple bargain bin dmen with intangibles, grit and leadership to ship out at the tdl for picks.

it's not that difficult.

I suspect he was referring to Carol's omission of the fact that Matthews was named as cover for NHL20.

It is difficult. That's why our teams haven't won anything in 50 years.
