Bowman says Hawks would consider trading down with the right deal. - Lido_Shuffle
First, quotes always need context, such as the way the question was asked can elicit a response that could be ambiguous without the context. But even without context, the quote has a caveat that makes the quote ambiguous with or without context and that's the "right deal". If Edmonton offered Connor McDavid for the #3 pick - of course Stan would trade the pick. So, I don't think a lot can be read into that quote because it's basically GM boilerplate.

It seems like he has been since the end of the year. There were a number of "whispers" and "reports" that the Preds were one of the top (if not number 1) destination for him.
You would have to think something would have to give with Johanson at $8M, Turris at $6M and Bonino at $4.1M (I believe he is their "4th" center). I can't imagine Duchene comes in at lower than $8M right? - Chunk
NSH wants to move P.K. Subban and his $9M AAV to make room for Duchene's $9M AAV. |

With the Hayes deal coming in at just over $7M - I’d say it’s safe to assume Duchene gets a deal in excess of $8M. |

Neither here nor there in relation to the draft speculation, but the Hawks did say that Toews WILL be in Vancouver to announce the pick (or at least participate). Think it was in the first “on the clock” video. |

I like this either way bc it means one of 2 things...either Hawks really do select a Top Pair Dman...OR....they are leveraging a team like LA/Buf/Wings to trade up and give a huge bounty for #3..

What about sugar shacks...?
- Chief4Feathers
Maple Sugar Harvest Shacks set up to sell maple syrup products. Big in Quebec. Can also refer to buildings where ladies remove all of their clothing. |

I was originally in the Cozens camp at the very beginning....a #1C in 3 years with size/speed who is shoot first. Reminds me a bit of Scheifele on Jets.
However, if the “value” is even...and the draft is deeper in forwards, I think they do BB with #3 pick. They may then try to pick up C Protas in 2nd round who’s another big 6’5” center and put up a point a game in the playoffs at 17yrs. I believe they had him in to “scout” after the combine. |

I’m not buying they’re all fantastic players and they’re all going to have great NHL careers! It’s entirely possible one of them if not more doesn’t pan out. You can definitely screw this pick up by selecting the wrong guy! - walleyeb1
But that is no different then any draft in any sport. You're going to have hits and misses.
We're all just a little anxious since the Hawks haven't drafted this high in quite some time. |

This is what I’ve been saying. Offer sheet Marner for 5 years $10.567 mil to avoid compensating 4 1sts and force TOR to make a move early. - Assman22
Offer sheet to toronto for 1.2 million no draft picks have to be compensated see what Toronto does then and Kappean. |

That's a great point. I personally am in favor of the Hawks selecting one of the centers, but this at least suggests they are approaching the draft from multiple angles.
If they stick with the pick and it's BB, great. If they do a different route, great.
As much as I am looking forward to the draft, I am more intrigued by the trade speculation, especially with so many teams close to, or over, the salary cap (whatever it is!).
Oh, and thanks for all of the blogs, Tyler. Hawks fans are spoiled that we have someone who puts out multiple blogs every week. |

Caufield Dach Cozens Turcotte Byram and the rest. Each poster here select ONE...on who WE THINK HAWKS WILL CHOOSE.
And see which of us can guess along with Stan and the draft team!
??????.....any chance you wanna do that??? - hawk35

More like in excess of 9M. The Preds can have him. He will end up being Turris 2.0 but cost more. |

The player has to sign the offer sheet and be willing to play for the amount being offered - before the offer sheet can be presented to the team. What player is going to agree to play for $1.2M?
