Jumbo Joe won't play anywhere but SJ. He's already said that.

I’m not buying they’re all fantastic players and they’re all going to have great NHL careers! It’s entirely possible one of them if not more doesn’t pan out. You can definitely screw this pick up by selecting the wrong guy!

I can't recall how much buzz Barker got, but it was pretty clearly a huge dropoff from 2 to 3. And as you said that draft overall wasn't very good. This draft is projected to be a pretty decent draft.

Yeah that we got hosed when the Caps won the lottery. We should have had Malkin. The awarding of Kane in 2007 made up for it though.

Bowman says Hawks would consider trading down with the right deal.

The Chicago Blackhawks would consider trading the No. 3 pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, general manager Stan Bowman said Wednesday.

"If someone made a really appealing offer, then we'd have to consider it, but that hasn't happened yet," Bowman said. "If it does, then as a group we'll talk about it. But that's one of those things where a team has to want to put together a really appealing package to move up. It's happened before. Pretty rare, though. It's not out of the realm, but it's unlikely to happen."

This and a number of other examples is why I don’t buy what Bowman is selling in this comment:

"These are great kids. The one thing I've learned in the last couple months in getting to know each one of them is they're all fantastic players and they're all going to have great NHL careers. We're choosing between great options, and that puts us in a really good position."

In fairness, what else is he going to say? "I think most of these guys will be pretty good, but half of them probably won't make it and player X is a turd and is being overhyped."?

I heard thru the rumor mill that the Blackhawks (and other orgs) were pumping up Byram's stock to try to get teams to value him higher than he actually projects.
They've had their eyes on a future 1C (allowing Toews to slot back where he belongs, 3C) and Strome to grow into a 2C role he's destined for.
Byram is just the best defensemen in this years draft so over-inflating his value might get some desperate team to give up assets and draft him higher than he's actually worth.
Stan is going to swap picks with someone lower, get another late 1st or early 2nd and draft Cole Caufield

It seems like he has been since the end of the year. There were a number of "whispers" and "reports" that the Preds were one of the top (if not number 1) destination for him.

You would have to think something would have to give with Johanson at $8M, Turris at $6M and Bonino at $4.1M (I believe he is their "4th" center). I can't imagine Duchene comes in at lower than $8M right?
