Rule changes coming:
Even if team getting a man advantage ices the puck, it will have faceoff in the offensive zone. - walleyeb1
I'm good with that. The league seems to be trying to get more offense and goal celebrations going. Its all about the fan experience. |

One rule change I would like to see is when a penalty shot is called - the team getting the penalty shot would have the option of taking the penalty shot or getting a 2 minute power play. Depending on the game situation - the team may want to take 2 minutes off the clock rather than taking a chance of not scoring on the penalty shot and no time coming off the clock. - EbonyRaptor
Love this.
I also think if you score on a delayed penalty call, you still get the power play. |

How about this.
Who winds up the more productive NHLer?
Caulfield or Debrincat? |

Odds are on Debrincat I think, he has a good head start and Caulfield will have more to prove. |

Tyler, it seemed like there was a ton of smoke early this morning when you announced two blogs.
Do you have a complete blog ready when a big move is made? Curious minds keep obsessively refreshing |

Karlsson made $7mil last year so they are over the Cap without Karlsson on the books??? - EnzoD
Karlsson took a chance on himself and agreed to a 1 yr deal at $5.25M when they couldn't agree on a long term deal.
And then George McPhee went on a season long drunk and gave Paccioretty $7M, Stastny $6.5M and Mark Stone $9.5M. Now there is no money for Karlsson.
Stan should be squeezing McPhee's nuts real hard for Karlsson or Alex Tuch or Shea Theodore. And if McPhee hasn't sobered up yet ask him for Cody Glass too.

I would be all over Tuch. Completely different dimension than anything on their roster and probably cheaper than Anders Lee |

Sure is quiet round these parts ... where's all the action? |

For sure cheaper than Anders Lee. Tuch is on a 7 year deal @ $4.75M. |

Turnabout is fair play. Wasn’t too long ago McPhee was making just about every other GM squirm trying to keep players away from being selected in the expansion draft.
And really, isn’t it amazing how quickly he got himself into a cap crunch? |

No - too much penalty for a minor infraction.
But a PS is awarded when a high-quality shot is interfered with - like a clear path in basketball.
In basketball, the clear path becomes the FTs and the ball.
In hockey, the “clear path” should be a PS AND the PP. |

Only way Karlsson is an option is if he will take another one year deal. No way SB adds more salary past that without moving equal dollars on equal term out. And McPhee cant take meaningful salary back. Would have to be another team involved otherwise.

I agree. The infraction leading up to that deserves both. |

can NYR sign Trouba to an 8 year deal because they own his RFA rights?
or probably not, because he wasn't on their roster at the trade deadline huh |

Agreed. While caulfield is good, hard to pencil him, or anyone as a 42+ goal scorer. Hell, you hope they ever reach that
Even guys like Laine are finding out scoring 40 isn't easy every year |

Well, yes... there’s that.
The extent of my entire NBA viewing this year was the last five minutes of the finals. Which included a lot of standing around as the refs figured out a technical foul call for a player who called timeout when none were left.
My interest in the NBA quickly faded after the Jordan years. |

Or compromise and the team gets the penalty shot but then gets the 2 min PP if the penalty shot was unsuccessful.
