Byram is who I've been leaning towards wanting the Hawks to pick, but there are honestly legit arguments for all 4 of most talked about forwards. I'm glad it's not my job to pick.
Want strong two-way play mixed with compete level? Turcotte.
Want skating prowess with high quality shooting ability? Cozens.
Want size mixed with elite puck skills? Dach.
Want a creative elite playmaker with wow factor? Zegras. - L_B_R
Want a forward with everything? Cole Caufield. |

Who was it a couple years ago (maybe a GM) was in the air when the weber/subban trade, the larsson/hall trade, and stamkos re-signing all happened and then he landed and got the explosion of news and texts and thought it was a prank? - Stan_Bowman
No clue. Still there is all this “chatter” but nothing of note. Seems suspicious. |

Was Barker as highly touted as Byram? Think a lot of the fear is we pick another Barker with 3. That said, from a look at the results, Barker's year was pretty weak other than Ovechkin, Malkin, Ladd and Wheeler... - Popsghostly
He was ... and he was the top rated North American skater in that draft year, so he might have been even more highly touted than BB.
...and then there is the draft year where they were in a position to take one of the Sedins and traded with Vancouver for Brian McCabe and some other stuff - now McCabe became an All-Star after that trade ... unfortunately it was after he had been moved on to Toronto for maybe some Russian guy - they were awfully high on any Russians for a period back then. It came back to bite the Hawks ... and hard - although it left everyone with that Pat Foley spray... so I guess it wasn't a total loss. |

Something for the collection - someone do a collage then - put it next to Q protesting to the refs by grabbing his pants ... we all know that image.

With or without tights and playing the recorder? Actually maybe the tights thing was something I remembered from a Renfest - can't imagine anyone playing the recorder not dressed that way.

Things are heating up.
The mainstream guys (Friedman, Dreger, BobFather and LeBrun) are all chiming in on rumors.
Hold on to your butts. |

Julien BriseBois stated today that forward Ryan Callahan has been diagnosed with degenerative back disease and recommended that he no longer play professional hockey. |

Karlsson would be a nice get - Toews/Strome/Karlsson as the 1/2/3 centers works for me. Probably means Anisimov would be traded which brings me to a question I've had about a potential Anisimov trade - it's been noted that if Anisimov gets traded it would probably be after July 1st so the Hawks would have to pay the signing bonus making it more attractive to the acquiring team. If that happens - does that signing bonus get included in the Hawks 2019/20 cap? I'm assuming yes - which would then mean that the Hawks wouldn't rid themselves of AA's entire $4.55M 2019/20 cap hit - only part of it - correct?

That's a shame for Callahan but it doesn't help T.B.'s cap situation because if Callahan is going to be "Hossa'd" - they would still need to carry Callahan's AAV on their opening day roster until they could LTIR him after opening day. Correct?

Except they still have to be cap compliant with his salary on day 1 before putting him on LTIR.

Along these same lines, ER, would the Hawks be able to put a trade package together at the draft to maybe swap picks, and include "future considerations", with said future considerations being AA after July 1st?
I'm surely grasping at straws here, but just didn't know if that would be possible if there was a player they wanted and AA could help them get there.

Yes. It's the same reason Horton's contract is an issue for the Leafs. |

Depends on how the trades play out, but Karlsson as a #3 center and AA as a lw on line 3 (or maybe line 1?) would give us center depth galore, AA could also then be with Kampf as PK1, and be on PP2 as net front presence.

Ek is not a good source. Most of his chatter is wrong. Seriously when was the last time he broke anything before the more legit source? |
