Possible. But, while I don't profess to know all that much about young Jesse, he hasn't shown anything to put him above the other guys we are hoping to see blossom in the next couple of years, IMO.
As for 8OA, I really don't think EDM is trading it. Just my opinion. We can talk all we want about what they COULD do, but the reality is that top 10 picks aren't traded all that often. Especially in a draft where you have a number of really good options in that slot. - Tonybere
I don’t think EDM wants to wait another year or 2 for the 8 OA to play his first NHL game. If they miss the playoffs again the fans might revolt. They need cheap 2nd/3rd line guys to fill out their roster. A package of young 2nd/3rd line guys might interest them. |

Good article about cap space problem if Panarin is coming
https://www.blueshirtbant...o-make-moves-at-the-draft - rrentz
This was my view in the comments after the Trouba trade (updated slightly):
Cap Friendly:
PROJECTED CAP HIT : $63,963,609
PROJECTED LTIR USED : $0
PROJECTED CAP SPACE : $19,036,391
CURRENT CAP SPACE : $19,036,391
TODAYS CAP HIT : $63,963,609
To be signed: Trouba, Buchnevich, Lemieux, Claesson and DeAngelo. If bridge Buch, Lemieux and ADA, estimate around $5.5 plus or more (maybe up to $7 mil). Trouba will be in the $6-7 mil range if only one season and no LT extension is signed. That's conservatively 11.5 million and probably more, leaving around 5-7 mil or so.
Figure Beleskey gets buried in the minors, saving about a million. Vesey (2.275 mil), Namestnikov (4 mil) and Strome (3.1 mil) are all at risk. Shattenkirk (6.65 mil) and Smith (4.35 mil) are buyout candidates. NY would need to clear about 5-6 mil to be safe in order to afford Panarin or others. |

but we still have other bloggers thinking the Rangers have enough space to trade for bad contracts and gain 3rd line assets

Just heard earlier today on a Sirius XM show with a host further supporting the word I had mentioned a few blogs ago just prior to midnight via Elliotte Friedman interviewed on NHL Network Tuesday evening, who also stated that many people in the hockey world feel that Panarin will be signed by the Panthers.
The Rangers better concentrate first on extending Kreider sooner than later, who Friedman said yesterday in key, that there were "lots of teams interested in him".
In addition, as of today, effective in the 2021/22 season, the Rangers currently have only 3 signed roster players whose deals will still be active that season, in Zib, Skjei, and Fox. They also have currently only 4 signed non roster players 3 years ahead, including in key, Kravtsov. |

It’s all dependent on signing Panarin. We need to get Shattenkirk out of here ASAP. I can’t imagine if we retained 2 million a team wouldn’t want him for a 3rd round pick. |

Kevin Hayes received a full no-move clause for the first three years of his deal with #Flyers - which offers expansion draft protection - and a 12-team limited no-trade clause for the remaining years. |

I have no doubt the Rangers will have the NMC on Trouba, I hope it helps keep AAV down |

Good foundation being built, but the future depends on how Gorton sets this team up a couple years from now. |
