Problem is that the 6.5 was considered an fair overpayment, which you have to make to get an UFA guy. Hayes real value is probably around 5m.

And then Blues continued to add and got ROR (a deal people like you scoffed at, which shows what you know). Then as they continued to struggle, they fired their coach (something else you advocated against last year). Then magically, after tinkering with the chemistry and adding a new voice, they took off.

So let me get this straight. The team that just won the Stanley Cup last week, who was worse off than the Flyers last offseason, added big time and small time pieces to their team by trading picks and spending money. Then halfway through their season, when they realized they needed a new voice, they fired their coach without hesitation and the rest is history. I thought I read a tweet by McKenzie where Kapanen and Johnsson were signing 3 yr deals below 4 million, which both players would be a good benchmark for Konency. I m not as concerned about Lindblom and Patrick. Lindblom hasn t eclipsed 20 goals and Patrick hasn t been above 40 points yet. Even If both guys eclipse that mark, there both probably better off with a bridge deal.
