Gutless weasel Dave Scott is sure getting all that he asked for and then some.
- StepfordSam

He’s running a business
They have to win to sell tickets and bling
They unfortunately are not known for patience forever. Gutless weasel seems a bit harsh, bean counter seems fair

The important question is do they have enough cap space to sign Panarin?

I’ll believe we’re competitive when I see it.

Hayes at 7 mil puts them over? Lol
- 2Real

Exactly. If cap keeps going up its peanuts. The 7 years is tough though. Still, they got their guy. Hexy had to throw 7mil at jvr, which was market value. Move looked great at the time.

LOL

He's probably done, my man. For real. Think he keeps No. 11, doesn't move Ghost.

If anything, he might move a JVR or Voracek to ease cash concerns, but not immediately

Honestly you don’t think they have a better team now then they did last season?

I’m not saying they will beat Boston or Tampa and play in the cup finals, just that they are better right now?

He needs a backup goalie. Should be about $4m.

Man, I've been waiting for 40 years. I was 6 years old when they won

I agree. I just need one, man. Just one. For (frank)'s sake. Just one

Would love to see Giroux raise that Cup soon!

Alex Zhitnik for Brayden Coburn

Forsberg for Upshall, Parent and a First round pick. Then flipped the pick for Timonen Hartnell

Richards for Simmonds and Schenn

Carter for Voracek and Couturier

Signed Jagr for 4.4

Signed Briere

Pitkanen and Sanderson for Smith and Lupul

Steve Mason for Michael Leighton and a third round pick.

I loved Holmgren to be honest. He took a last place team and made them a final four team in a year. Took them to a Stanley Cup Final two years after that. He kept things interesting. I was fine with the Vinny deal. I was fine with the Bryzgalov deal. The problem is, the players didn’t play to standards. Not the fact Homer went out and got them.

- SuperSchennBros

I wish they never aquired Vinny or Bryz but I agree, Homer did a good job overall and definitely kept it exciting.

After seeing what Fletch is doing, I kind of wish they would have given Hextall some more time. He was building through the draft and we are just now going to start seeing the benefits of it. Easier to say that now.

I wonder if Rubstov would have been a better option than Hayes at $50m if he didnt get hurt last year. He was looking like the player they expected during his short time with the Phantoms.

I don't like the Hayes deal by itself. He's just not worth that contract and he's been a guy who takes a stance that he will control where he goes and how much he gets and is all about the money. Now he doesn't even have to earn it anymore. That's scary.

Now add to that. One of Rubstov or Frost may end up being a better option as soon as next year.

Also, i can't believe we threw away the 42nd pick to help San Jose with their Cap problem. There could very well be a 1st round talent there at that spot. And they could of used the 3rd they traded to move up a few spots further.

All the top guys in free agency are getting 7 years, it s the cost of doing business. No way Duchense and Panarin don t get 7 years. I d bet even Pavelski gets 3 years.

Not even close. Not even if they trade Ghost and JVR for nothing. Essentially they have enough money for their RFA’s and that’s it, assuming they get paid what we are all thinking.

Haha what more damage can be do? I guess he can trade Ghost for an underwhelming return. In fact that’s probably his next move.

I had a feeling when he sat there on draft night with the Rags and Devils getting the top two picks it was going to be all down hill from there.

Good point. 😀 Duchene at 28 yrs old is in a great position to get 8 years from Columbus I believe. 8 X 72 not a bad paycheck.

I don't know why people think Ghost is safe now? I think Ghost may become the 1st cap casualty. Under 23m in cap space 5 RFAs to sign and a back up goalie and that still leaves them short at forward.

I'm sorry to say this Flyers, but while Fletch is at it with the terrible moves, we'll take Ghost in MTL, we can flip you Juulsen, a 2nd and Byron or Shaw np.

Fletch might believe this is overpayment for Ghost though, and settle for Juulsen and a 2nd

What if they trade ghostfor a first rounder, not sure I would be mad. Turning a 3rd to a 1st. Ghost had one great year, but last year..ugh.. we might have seen the real ghost. It's a roll of the dice. I think they keep him and see if last year, which was tough on the whole team, was an abbreviation.
