I loved Holmgren to be honest. He took a last place team and made them a final four team in a year. Took them to a Stanley Cup Final two years after that. He kept things interesting. I was fine with the Vinny deal. I was fine with the Bryzgalov deal. The problem is, the players didn’t play to standards. Not the fact Homer went out and got them.

I have been a Flyers fan since 1997. I’ve had my issues with our coaches but I’ve never hated a GM until now. Paul Holmgren never made moves like these.

A lot depends which dman is moved. The Hayes signing makes it more likely Frost starts in the NHL. Cheap top 9 forward depth. The last piece is which dman goes, Hagg for picks or Ghost for something big.

It is and the d corps is better. I'm not really shocked at any of this as fletch was brought in to win now at all costs. I'm a little worried about what the next trade is sending a dman out. Not sure we'll get full value for ghost. I also want to keep the rest of our picks.

We'll need the prospects and picks to help us out of cap problems moving forward.

Hayes is a second line player who has never collected more then 54 points in a season. He barely gets 20 goals a season and now he’s getting paid like a top line star. It’s the same shock when Mac was signed. An average player cashing in.

When Bryzgalov and LeCavalier were signed, they were signed as stars. Everyone expected them to be stars. Nobody could have known things would go south and that’s not on Holmgren. Holmgren hit more home runs then losses prior to offering these deals. It’s on the players to play to standard.

Many of you were happy Vinny and Bryzgalov signed here because they were star players. Myself included.

Everyone was happy about Vinny coming here. Everyone was happy about Bryzgalov too. Anyone calling out Holmgren for these deals turning out the way they did is being ridiculous. You wanted it, he got it.
