The climate is changing on these 2nd contracts for quality kids. Fletcher admitted as much. It's gonna cost (a lot) more than usual to get em all signed. - Tomahawk
But you're saying the Fletcher admitted it. So I assume he's aware of the new cost structure?

I have an issue with him not getting the correct return in trades. He took on salary and assisted other teams with cap problems in all three deals. Generally, teams get compensated for taking on/retaining salary.
I want to improve the team. However, I want them to be good for a long time. Pissing away picks left and right is not the way to do that. Whether it is five or three picks it is still unacceptable. - mickel25
Teams get picks back when the players they are getting are terrible and not worth a damn like Vinny and Pronger at the end. The players they are getting back are still good players. Niskanen might not be a number 1 anymore but he still has too 4 talent, likely top 2. Braun is a defensive stalwart and PK beast, something we sorely lacked. We got these defenseman on the cheap because of cap issues but make no mistake if we said no, someone else would have said yes. Talbot was backup because of goalie injuries and Stolarz was lost to UFA anyway. They were trying to make a playoff push and couldn’t count on Stolarz, and didn’t know Elliot would be healthy. Again, someone would have made the deal if we didn’t. |

Only TK and Provy can command good money from that group so far - bulet13
What's the going rate for a young 35+ point dman used on the top-pairing? Because that's Sanheim's position going into negotiations. |

I get your point, but I'm not a GM, I make cabinets for a living. As a fan though, I assume that the GM is taking into consideration all the moves he needs to make when making any move. - shekkie
I would like a cabinet, sir. |

That I agree with for sure. I"m nervous that it's Ghost + 11oa for something.
And I'm hoping its not Provorov.

If a 1st round pick on average becomes a career average player at 63 percent, why are you about to give up and cry like a child about a 2nd and 3rd when we obviously have more moves to come where we can recover picks and still have a HUGE surplus of young guys that are getting close to NHL ready?? - Richieattack18
We will see if he recovers any of the picks in subsequent moves. The small sample size I have to judge on I do not think he will.

I have a feeling Ghost is gone, so this might happen. Provy should not be traded. |

I remember Homer hating 2nd round picks. We'd trade those 5 years in advance.. - Hextall271
I'm iffy, about second rounders. Depending on our position (we could be picks away from the first round, or third). And depending on the depth of the draft. |

I don't doubt other teams may have made deals for those players. I just do not think Fletcher maximized the return for any of three deals you referenced. We will see what else he has up his sleeve. |

so what s a good trade for Ghost involving a forward that is actually possibly available (include draft picks if needed)? |

Hopefully Hagg is out for Braun - bulet13
How can you possibly hope this??? Braun is 32...he is not getting any better..Hagg is what, 24 and has 1 year in the league with crappy coaches...really..you think Hagg is the issue to take on 3.8M in cap space? |

Yeah Morin would be scooped immediately. He still has enormous upside. Not even saying he's like Chara but big man will take some time to develop into his potential. Look at Ottawa and the Fishsticks trading Chara before he really came into his own. - Pixote Andolini
Morin has no upside. But he won’t clear waivers because he is working for the NHL minimum. He fits in anyone’s cap and is no risk.
Hard to believe 6 years into it some are still talking about “time to develope like Chara”. Time to face reality, a 6-7 spot is his ceiling. He has actually said this himself in a reacent interview. |

Kadri would feel like the most Flyers move ever.
Just when we get rid of Gudas, our last remaining "could make a suspension worthy idiot move" guy, we'd bring in another with a worse reputation.

What are the chances the return is going to be less then we hope for?
Puck moving offensive D are pretty damn important. Torey Krug was Boston’s mvp (maybe after Tuuka but he was important) in the playoffs, I know ghost doesn’t have the same 2 way game as Krug but he could in the future.
Trading ghost is going to come back and bite them in the ass |

IF the Flyers were one of the teams that Trouba would've accepted a trade to (and I'm therefore assuming would be open to signing an extension with), then Fletch shoulda just went hard after him. Seeing what the Rangers gave up, I gotta think #11 + Hagg gets it done.
Then, IMO, you don't need either of these two other moves that bring in 30+ Dmen. Although if you still wanted a better vet presence with playoff experience, you could still make the Niskanen deal.
Yes you would still have to pay to extend Trouba, but unless his demands were ridiculous, then I would view that as a wise investment.
Provy-Niskanen
Sanhiem-Trouba
Ghost-Myers
Morin
Ok, I'm done. Won't post anymore about Trouba unless in response |

I'll never understand the Hagg hate here by some people.
Young, solid 5-6 dman, plays physical..
Oh noes he doesnt outlet pass the puck in 1.3 seconds..CORSi fail.
