He’s pretty solid overall besides goal scoring.

Between 2016-18 before his bad season last year he was 39th in EV assists for centers. 36th in primary assists.

Is defensively responsible.

I think if they did acquire him, you can put him with shooting talent and it can work

There is 22mm in cap space currently.

22 -10 = 12

Reinharts ~4mm comes off the books that’s 16

Bogos 5+mm comes off the books
Scandella at 4+mm comes off the books.
Sheary 3mm comes off the books
Wilson and his 1mm comes off the books.

That’s 29mm now without Reinhart signed.

Is Reinhart getting 10+ per year?
Or will he most likely get 7-7.5?

Is it a smart move, I don’t know. But it can be done.

- ImThatGuy

I've actually done this in cap friendly and we have like 29M in cap space to begin 2020 with all of them off the books. Then you can take out Reinhart and Dahlin for like 12-14M.

I think the main problem I have with such a huge gap in your top end talent of Eichel, Skinner, Duchene, Dahlin, and Samson then the rest of the talent is on ELCs basically. It'd be a sparce but teams certainly can win a playoff series or two this way.

Now I see another person putting Borgen as a top pairing in the future.... is this dude really that good? I guess I don't know enough about him but I didn't realize his ceiling was THAT high. Higher than Guhle, Nelson, Pilut, McCabe, etc?

I forgot about McCabe, swap them until Borgen is ready. Its not so much he is that good as he is the outlier to an elite player and I see them complimenting each other well.

He needs at least another year in Rochester but he should be a full time Sabre in 20/21.

So it was more about balancing hte pairings than his actual ceiling by putting him there?? Like McNabb playing top pairing with Doughty in LAK?

I guess I saw him as a 2nd pairing guy at best... I saw a person or two on CF saying he's a future fringe top pairing guy or very very good 2nd pairing.

Duchene is probly getting 10-11 million. I don’t think we can afford him with Reinhart needing a deal.
- Sabretooth9

It was said last night;
to hell with the Cap, spend it on good players and figure it out later, lol.

In all seriousness, we are seeing what was predicted a while ago
The stars getting a ton of money, at the expense of middling players and a greater need for young players on ELC's to contribute early and often.

The Sabres need a board of hockey experts to review and approve any potential trades the GM wants to make

I don't see him as a top pair guy but his ceiling could be a 3-4. It's hard to say right now, he needs more development but he progressed nicely this past season in Rochester.
