What makes me panic from a Flyers standpoint is spending the last two weeks talking about Kevin Hayes. Do any of you consider him a star? I don’t even think he’d worth all this attention and discussion.

What I do know is, no matter what Chuck does, everyone is gonna praise his every move as if it’s the right one.

If Trouba was signed for 8 years at $7.5m there would have been a lot more going back.
- Feanor

I think his agent pushes for at least 9 million per yr to sign long term. Interesting to see what contract he signs.

Who's the dude in the background with the red trunks?

Didn't even notice a guy in red trunks until you said that...all I saw was a little to the right

I'm not sure if you saw what Hayes did in the playoffs compared to Duschesne.
Like night and day - Hayes - avg. player - 3rd line production
Duschesne, leading his team to victories, beating TB Lightning.
I want someone who can play playoff hockey... Hayes could barely make the lineup n WPG and they didn't even win.

- jduran10

Hayes isn't going to be worth the money/term, so I hope Chuck has the sense to walk away, even if it means losing face and the pick.

Last thing they need is a new albatross after they just bought out the old one.

I don't think Hayes is similar to MacDonald. He's very similar to JVR, and I'd give him the same contract but not a longer term and no trade protection, either.

This team is also dead in the water without a 2C so pick your poison.

There are other/better avenues to address 2C.

July 1 is a mine field.

That's why Fletch is trying to sign Hayes in June.

Duchene is going to cost way too much and is not worth that. If you're going to spend that kind of money, just go after Panarin. Much better player. Although I do think the Flyers making an offer to Duchene is a distinct possibility if Hayes doesn't sign.

See i actually think they would turn to Lee in free agency. I don't think Duchene interest them as much.

I see Lee and Kadri as fall back options to Hayes.

I think he gets $8 for 7. Trouba is a #2 RHD so that is about in the range. Gorton made this trade bc Trouba had a list of 2 teams he would go to. Winni was strapped hence the low return.

Players in this era are all boys. Him and Skeji talk all the time. This deal will get done.

Really? Was that the post that seals it? You speak as if you know me personally, as if we’ve met. This post you sent me, proves how serious you take this site and it’s sad or pathetic. Choose one.

Thanks for the list. Looking at the top 10, the most realistic trade option this summer appears to be RNH or Miller. I believe it will take more then 11 overall to get either guy. What additional assets would be needed? FWIW, I believe Miller would be the better option, but with his contract I m pretty confident his price will be higher.

Boys can talk, but let s be honest it is all about the money, which I have no issues. If he waits a year he can get 8 yrs for the Rangers. Trouba has already made 14 million in his career. Going to be an interesting decision for him.

Why? Hayes is a good player. Not a star but the Nelson signing set the market for that type of player. Times change. We are already seeing the elimination of the bridge deal. The cap is increasing and so will player salaries.
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

So with all the cap space saved up by Hextall, you just want a good player? How long do we expect our stars in G and Jake to be around? It’s coming real close to handing to keys to the castle to someone else. No perfect time then now.

Of course, always about the bag. My point is, the Rangers did not make this trade to have him for one year. It will get done. Anything $8 or under is win

I understand your point, both sides have some leverage. Curious to see the final contract numbers including money received before potential lockout.

Hayes hasn't been a star.
If he comes here and produces to his contract level, and we can trade him when the young guys are ready it could work.
I want Dushesne... but I don't like our chances in getting him.

- jduran10

I think some of us have to ask ourselves, what is this team going to look like when Giroux isn’t Giroux and more, or if players like Couturier and Hayes lose steam. Not very many players heading into their 30’s can continue playing at a Giroux level.

I have high hopes for Patrick, Frost, Farabee but these players could come with years of waiting within their development.

Probably hard to shake Miller loose, and RNH would cost at least as much as Jacob Trouba did (1st + young roster player).

Quick and dirty stop-gap would be Erik Haula. Chucky knows him. His contract is small and Vegas needs to move out money. He missed most of last year so his value won't be inflated. He provides a lot of what the Flyers are missing: speedy, can PK, can score.

If you want a more permanent solution (not as confident about NoPa), I'd look at Christian Dvorak. Word is Arizona is going all-in on Duchene. If so, they'll need to move some money out. Dvorak is extremely high upside, and also coming off a injury-marred year. The contract is kinda risky, but if he hits anywhere near his ceiling, it's a bargain.

Giroux has 3 seasons left on his contract, I could easily see him still being the best player on the team points wise up to that point.

Dvorak is interesting. I do wonder if Fletcher makes a trade if acquiring a player with term is a priority. I think it does. RNH is basically a rental, who probably is not going to take a pay cut on his next contract. I would assume his agent would push for 8 million per year for at least 7 years. Point is going to get paid. I guess Tyler Johnson is more likely to go then Miller. AV has history with Miller that is why I thought it could be possible.

Could well be. Thought I saw it end of the week. Didn't want him, glad we passed on him and dont really care enough to go look to see if I find reference. If no one else saw it, must be wrong
