According to info on the Rangers trade, they weren't allowed to talk to Trouba beforehand. - MJL
I think the Rags are ready to spend. No doubt this was their backup plan after the EK signing. |

I would like to see a JoePa (too soon?) Maybe we can get Joepa and Marleau together. We could likely pick up a decent return for helping Toronto out.
Giroux-Couturier-Konecny
JVR-Palveski-Voracek
Marleau-Patrick-Lindblom
Raffl-Laughton-Kapanen
Provorov-Niskanen
Sanheim-Zaitsev
Morin-Myers
Hagg
Hart
Elliot
Question becomes what do we get for taking on Marleau? Could it be a conditional 2020 1st plus Kapanen, plus Marleau, and Zaitsev for Ghost and Hartman?.
This just seems like the team Fletch wants and I think it looks promising. As long as Marleau and Niskanen and Elliot are shown the door when their contracts expire. Plus losing whomever in the expansion draft, we will have room for the next gen to come up and have good veterans plus a new Core of players. |

No to marleau. I would love Pavelski as a 1 to 2 year stop gap. But I think he would probably want to go for the elusive cup if he leaves San Jose. Which I think he will since they have like 12 million in cap left to sign 5 or 6 forwards lol |

What makes me panic from a Flyers standpoint is spending the last two weeks talking about Kevin Hayes. Do any of you consider him a star? I don’t even think he’d worth all this attention and discussion.
What I do know is, no matter what Chuck does, everyone is gonna praise his every move as if it’s the right one. |

If the Flyers get Kapanen, he'd better not be stuck on the 4th line. |

Not every player on the team needs to be a star. This team's issue for years has been lack of depth...
And yeah, idk what to even say about your 2nd comment. Hextall was ripped for his poor moves. As was Homer. As was Clarke. Fletch has already been ripped for more of his moves than not. |

I also think some team is going to get stupid and offer Pavelski 4 years. If we could get him for 2 or 3 it'd be great stop gap to let the kids develop. |

Why? Hayes is a good player. Not a star but the Nelson signing set the market for that type of player. Times change. We are already seeing the elimination of the bridge deal. The cap is increasing and so will player salaries. |

Ref should ban you for even thinking this. Kapanen is not worth taking on Marleau and Zaitsev never mind what the hell are we trading? Hartman and Ghost are the only guys I noticed are missing? You really think that is logical from the Leafs stand point? |

We have stars in G, Jake Couts, Hart , and a plethora of young impact players who have star potential imo. Sometimes you don’t need to add that “Star”. I think Hayes fits our needs pretty nicely |

The soft rumor out of San Jose was he wants 2 for 10. Which is so reasonable. Like I said I'd love him but think hes bound for a contender and probably west coast. Maybe Vegas? |

I'm not sure if you saw what Hayes did in the playoffs compared to Duschesne.
Like night and day - Hayes - avg. player - 3rd line production
Duschesne, leading his team to victories, beating TB Lightning.
I want someone who can play playoff hockey... Hayes could barely make the lineup n WPG and they didn't even win. |

Hayes hasn't been a star.
If he comes here and produces to his contract level, and we can trade him when the young guys are ready it could work.
I want Dushesne... but I don't like our chances in getting him. |

Do you think that price goes up for teams other then SJ with term and/or cap hit? I think it is reasonable to believe the price goes up for other teams.

Duchene is going to cost way too much and is not worth that. If you're going to spend that kind of money, just go after Panarin. Much better player. Although I do think the Flyers making an offer to Duchene is a distinct possibility if Hayes doesn't sign. |

I'm shocked at the low return. Jets in cap trouble and needed a salary dump maybe?
Trouba can get another one year deal in arbitration and then become a UFA on 7/1/2020. That's why his return seems low. Plus the Jets wouldn't let teams discuss a deal with his agent. |

I like Hayes' size and his ability to kill penalties as well. Not as flashy as Duchene but more cost effective for this team. |

If Trouba was a top pairing defenseman there would've been a lot more going back in that deal. Rangers aren't the only team looking for defense. - hereticpride
If Trouba was signed for 8 years at $7.5m there would have been a lot more going back. |
