Now that a division rival got Trouba, does this make Fletcher / Flyers panic with a move at all? ugh.

I don’t think it will. It shows patience to me that he didn’t pull the trigger and makes deal on the hope he resigns.

So we move ghost, does sanheim or provy qb the pp or go with a forward?
- Hextall271

I would use Provy or Sanheim. Niskanen has some PP experience but Id keep him as a PP#2 option. Thing is we dont know what the PP is gonna look like with Yeo managing it. They might overhaul it completely.

The robbery in my opinion was that the rangers traded Winnipeg back their first round pick for trouba. Savage. They got that pick for hayes.

Pionk was a college UFA too. And has been pretty poopty.

Seems like after the Flyers got their guy, there was nobody serious left to bid against.

Interesting that other teams in the top 15 couldn t beat that deal unless Chevy really coveted Poink.

At the trade deadline teams weren t giving up first rounders for rentals, kind of look that might have been the sentiment for the rest of the league in the summer.

I guess Philly didn't want Trouba? The Flyers could have matched that trade or offered better. I know some people on this board didn't want Trouba but he would have solidified our blue line for years to come.

I'm confused as to which direction this Flyers team is heading. Are they going for it this year and next? Or are they looking down the road 4 years waiting for these prospects to mature and become big contributors? I think management is confused also. If you're not going for the cup in the next two seasons then trade Giroux, Voracek etc. and get on with the full blown rebuild. Trade them while you can get a good return allowing the organization to stock pile more prospects.

This mediocrity and lack of identity is frustrating. Although the results are yet to be seen, the Rangers seem to have rebuilt their team in 2 years. This is embarrassing.

Agree. Not many teams had the cap to re sign him. However if the bad sources are true that hes looking for 8+. Idk how good that deal is. Saying he wants 8+ or he will sign a 1 year tender and be an ufa next year. It's a good gamble for ny. Especially with kakko coming and potentially grabbing panarin. They could be good quickly. But if he walks next year. Changes perspective.

If we sign him to 6 or less we win. If we sign him to more than they sign trouba for we take 100 L's

You never want to be a position where you have to trade good young players because of cap issues. It just reinforces how I want the Flyers to proceed. You sign older higher cap hit players, it can force you to lose leverage and have to make moves. Don't become a team that is capped out and is not good enough. Don't try and rush your team due to a lack of patience. It will bite you in the end.

Agreed. I don't mind the Niskanen deal. Just hope Fletch continues to add.

One possibility I can think of is Fletcher explored this and wasn’t happy or satisfied with Trouba not being set on an extension with us.

According to info on the Rangers trade, they weren't allowed to talk to Trouba beforehand.

I'm pretty sure I read end of last week that Jets had given permission for teams to talk to his agent.
