For sure. But it doesn’t look good. Dhaliwal is pretty on it.

If it doesn't get by the end of the draft then I'd say he's probably gone, but too soon for now. Both sides are probably just getting frustrated or being stubborn, hence the media leak. Benning's probably being stubborn(which is great) and Edler's camp is probably frustrated.

Edler will sign whatever’s on the table when the time comes. He’s a beta’s beta.

If Detroit was still full of Swede's, that probably would've been his backup plan.

I can see him ending up in Florida if he does walk.

Nighthawk puts out multiple trade or acquisitions proposals as discussion points, he constantly is asking for others opinions. He takes a lot flack for constantly posting rosters or proposing trades and he is at times ridiculed.

Most of the posts against his proposals are to have patience and draft and develop. Then another team makes a trade, today Trouba, and the patient draft and develop crowd starts to criticize Benning for sitting on his hands while players get moved about.

The patient draft and develop crowd also want a complete overhaul of the backend, but under no circumstances are any of the defense man available desirable.

The whole narrative by most here is head spinning, get rid of Edler, Tanev, Hutton, Biega, do not sign Trouba, Gardiner, Myers, so that leaves Hughes and Stecher

Get rid of Granlund, Goldobin, Sutter, Beagle, Schaller, Spooner, and only use present prospects and possible draft picks from getting rid of the already mentioned, because Benning can’t be trusted to make a trade or sign a UFA.

As I said, fcuking head spinning

All fair points.
Although some may give Nighthawk a bit of a hard time, myself included at times, he is pretty good at dishing it out as well.
I don't think anyone could ever question his dedication, as a fan, to our favourite team.

To clarify Reuby, I wasn’t really making this about Nighthawk, it was the how the premise that something needs to be done, but don’t trade and stay the course, but purge the backend and multiple forwards, don’t trust Benning trade and sign, but he’s sitting on his hands and not doing anything.

I get a chuckle with the back and forth between everyone here. Confusing as fcuk but interesting.🤯😁

Interesting, I think he’s gone if he doesn’t get his term wanted, who blinks first.

the problem is I think that every single person here has a different interpretation of how they wants things to go. Half want Benning to stay away from everyone in free agency, half want Panarin, one wants Boeser traded, a few wanted Karlsson, a few are ok with offer sheets, a few have some good trade targets in mind, a few want low key UFA signings in Benn/Chariot/Gunnarsson, and a few want to sell off assets/gain picks/rebuild slowly. There are a few points that everyone can agree/relate on, but for the most part, there are very few in agreement lol, which is both what makes this site great and at times awful at the same time.

lol from my paragraph, i can easily name off every poster in all the scenarios i noted, and each poster is different from each point.

Gudbranson is traded, Hughes is here, we are going to get a good player at 10, and it looks like we are keeping our picks for this draft, so I am happy

Watching Hughes at the World Junior you could see the skill, and he will shine this year.

I hope Green gives him the ice time and responsibilities.

I've always been of the mentality with the current state of the team, that we should be acquiring picks, not giving them out. The day will come when adding pieces at the price of picks to perfect the roster will come, but we just finished bottom 10 again, expediting this rebuild at the expense of the future is just a vicious circle of the past.

- Codes1087

I want a GM who can perfect the pump and dump. Who finds exceptional talent in later rounds and turns those players into premium draft capital. Turn Gaudette (5th round pick) into a 2nd and a 4th for a team needing low cost contributors, or Horvat into Glass and Theodore (my two years ago TDL proposal). Get two for one (or better) on these transactions then you will always have something in the pipeline ready to take the place of the player you are moving out.

You can’t be afraid to trade a player because you have an emotional investment. If you are, you end up with 35 year old twins keeping you from experiencing the necessary pain of rebuilding, and stretching out said rebuild to twice the time it should have taken...

So you want to draft and develop players and then trade them at 22 when they look like studs for prospects? I don’t onow if ive ever disagreed more with a post, am i am well known for disagreeing

Not every player, but the ones who you believe could be expendable because you have developed someone to take their place. But, not when they’re 22, they are still improving then, closer to when they would be hitting UFA territory, and before any trade clauses could kick in. I was ridiculed for suggesting the Canucks trade Kesler before his NTC kicked in, how did that work out?
