It’s quite amusing through all of JB’s trials & tribulations there isn’t more respect for his work & where he has us situated at.

Drafted some fine core pieces.
Tons of cap space.
Better talent in the pipeline.

If he improves on any of the rest it’s a bonus let alone makes all other teams take notice.

So why not add a key piece or 2 if it furthers are rise from the ashes.

I get what you're saying, but you're also somewhat contradicting yourself. You want to stay the course and have "draftees" develop and earn spots, but you are also saying at signing ufas (awarding spots) and giving away draft picks for RFAs. There has to be some balance. I do get what you are saying though. If we were 3 or 4 years in the future, I could probably get behind the idea of offer sheeting a good proven player and losing some picks for it, but at this stage of the Canucks, I just dont see the juice being worth the squeeze.

Our biggest impacts on the team have all derived from patience though

(Boeser/petey/horvat/hughes) were all impactful first rounders, all calibre players that could be lost on a simple offer sheet of a player like Meier/kapanen)

Other side of the coin is not all 1sts walk into the NHL & impact after only 1 season grooming. Meier is 22 & nothing is a given any 1st will be better. As for Kapanen the cost is a 2nd for a past 1st rounder who has speed to burn & plays 200’ hockey & just starting to come into his own. Both are young & trending very well. These are givens vs future unknowns let alone where we could pick next year.

In regards to the bolded, we do not know if any of the young players in Utica, ie; Lind, Gadjovich, MacEwen Jasek, Brisebois etc will be worth protecting.
By signing a couple RFA players, at the cost of picks, that wouldn't have to be protected, could force the team into losing a good player, instead of maybe a Sutter/Erickson type.

- Reubenkincade

To date there is nothing to say we can protect them nor how they will develop. Every team faces those issues. As for losing Sutter for nothing that’s a poor result when he could fetch more picks.

Quoting NYR as not being patient for a rebuild while they tore it down and made better progress in one year than the Canucks did in 7 or 8 years, is pretty ironic nighty

If only they had the luxury of having more than one first round pick

Curious as to why ppl think patience & making moves are oil & vinegar & not possible they can both be simultaneous?

Apples n Oranges comparison

They’ve done nothing yet & lucked out in the lottery. Lias Andersson wasn’t a great pick.

It made us delay.

Btw what studs NYR have currently? They are far from who we drafted.

They tore it down and acquired 2 first round picks. Acquired fox, trouba, and most likely kakko. Signed shestyorkin. They have done an absolute fantastic job regarding rebuilding IMO. They are going to be a very good team very shortly.

You conveniently omitted the draw NY is.
Again they’ve made moves & that is all.
Nothing won yet nor are they a threat.

So lets sit on our ass & be patient & make future comparisons of teams who don’t. Now that is contradictory 😂😂

We make 1 large splash & sign Panarin & we are further ahead for just money. A no brainer that is. Gotta be proactive in a world when all around you changes. There is no simplistic rigid way around it.
