You have this worry that I’ll never understand, centers are always needed and you can never have enough of them. Those guys aren’t labeled definitely centers by me either, they’re versatile you can play on the wing. I’d think one of Lias or Howden would be going for Karlsson anyway, so it’s even less of an issue probably
20, howden or Lias, and maybe another piece for Karlsson, is something I could see happening. Vegas is gonna lose someone pretty good - Slimtj100
We needed centers, we went out and stocked up on them, Chytil Andersson Howden Strome Barron, now before giving any of them a chance at a 2C role we’re going to trade for one? Doesn’t make sense to me. |

Which one of those has shown they can handle a 2C role? Strome was OK, but had a high shooting % to help him with his stats. You don't just not trade for a really good player because you want to give someone a shot. Sans Zib's breakout last year, Karlsson might be the best offensive center the team has had this decade. |

No one we have projects as a top pair physical shutdown defenseman. Chytil Andersson Howden Barron Strome all project as a 2/3C. |

Barron Chytil Howden and Andersson are all under 21, let’s give them some time before saying they can’t handle a 2C role. The great William Karlsson has 20 point seasons until he was 25. |

Then I would agree not to get Willy. I'm comfortable giving the rest of those guys reps as the 3C. |

Do you think we’re winning a cup this year? If the answer is no let’s see what the young guys have. |

That is false. Rangers are going 82-0-0 and then will go on a historic playoff run where wee see them 16-0. History will be made. |

No, but Karlsson is the same age as Strome. I don't see why there is such a downside to trading for him. If those other guys are good, they will rise to the top eventually. Let's also not pretend that Zib has never been hurt in his career, and that those guys wouldn't have a chance to play big minutes during stretches anyway. |

I can’t get onto this with you lol I can see where it will go. All I’ll say is, the great Trouba just hit 50 pts for the first time after a half dozen years of pretty much meh results. And don’t use hes a defense first guy, because Willy is a two way player who was 10th in the MVP votes last season. Oh and he’s missed 2 games since he’s a full regular, 4 seasons worth of games |

I gotta be honest Jan, this is a train wreck this year lol I suggest just have everyone here on a said day, hopefully post within a half hour of their pick, and just do it as live as possible. Start at like 10am. The voting, rationale, all that is really taking on to much time and effort, for you especially. It really is bigger then it needs to be imo. Let people rip each apart as picks are made. |

It is still entertaining and the trades make it kind of interesting if not a little more fantastical. Some thoughts for next year...
What about 1 blog per day, multiple picks per blog, simply disclose the earlier picks only to those picking next until the blog is published.
Maybe something like
1 pick/blog per day for top 5 = 5 days.
2 picks per day in a single blog for the next 10 picks = 5 days.
3 picks per day in a single blog for the next 12 picks = 4 days.
And finally 4 picks per day and one blog on the eve of the draft.
So 15 days, 15 blogs and 31 picks total. |

I am getting 3-4 picks up per day, separated by time. Awaiting the picks and rationale so I can post it. Understand the view of doing it all in one day or over 2-3, but thought this made it more interesting as it allowed further debate on picks, especially with little going on. Will modify for next year.

For whatever it's worth, maybe we should consider eliminating trades next year. That seems to be the biggest thing people are complaining/arguing/nitpicking over and eliminating that would probably make things run a whole lot smoother. |

yeah I agree, next year a straight up mock draft is probably best |

Jan, can you maybe write an article on the Rangers/rumors/news/etc.? The mock draft is great and all but at this time of year, we want to hear rumors... |

I have been including the rumors within the mock draft blogs. My view on the Trouba rumor was in the last blog. Honestly, little has come out lately that has any pure basis in fact, all pure speculation. Including buying out Smith or Shattenkirk |

Just heard Dreger on the radio, he sounded pretty confident NYR get Panarin, and to a lesser extent Trouba too
And cap max will be 83 mill, probably little south of it |
