Teams always overpay for average 3rd line production if it is packaged in a slightly physical body. I wouldn't touch him anything over 2.5 mill.

There will be some serious scrambling going on. Maybe moving Phil to Arizona for picks/prospects could work. Then maybe snag JT Miller or Tyler Johnson from Tampa who is desperate to resign Point.

Tampa, SJ, VGK are all in trouble now. Plus Bob just said it could be less than 82. We could realistically just resign our RFA's and hit the season with cap space to play with. Tamps cannot. Point alone will cost them more than they have right now.

Point could cost them $8M, maybe a little more. Tampa is definitely in trouble no matter what happens. Tampa is going to have to give players away basically or trade them for package that includes a cheap replacement and heavy on futures.

He was actually a +8 at 5v5 over the last 41 games. I prefer differential stats at specific situations as opposed to arbitrary ones created by the NHL.

He was even at 5v5 play in his last 41 games. Was third on the team in 5v5 points. He was fine. People crapping on him for being good to finish the season are the same that think JJ finished the season fine.

Yes, he played both spots over the years, but was mainly used as a center. Although, We really don't care about what position you play anymore it is a free for all once you become a penguin

I mean, if the cap is $81 or less? I don't think it becomes about adding JJ as a rider to a Kessel trade. It's now a legit financial issue.

If the cap is less than $82 I'm pretty sure we can kiss any idea of JJ getting moved goodbye. The only thing we can hope for is that Riikola plays more than he does.

Arizona has about 7 mill in space, they would probably insist on returning someone just to be safe. Either way, could clear like 5.5 mill and get a 1st out of it.
