Rolling over from last blog on people not knowing who Dominik Kahun was/is: he played over 16 minutes against us last year and was tied with Svechnikov for 7th in rookie scoring. As we’ve all read already, he had a great rookie year for the role he was given and had I believe the second highest QoC of all Hawk forwards. Do you guys never look into rookie scoring? Boxscores? Highlight reels? - WSCTeton17
So before he was traded to us... you are implying you already looked at all those things, knew all those stats and clips of him?
Cause I'll call you a liar right here if you say yes. |

Some people just have more time on their hands than others lol when I used to waste time at my old job I probably would have heard of the kid but I don’t get to (frank) off at my current gig. |

I don’t consider Horny or Schultz the core.
Sid, Geno, Jake, Phil, Letang, Dumo, and Murray are the core imo. - j.boyd919
Never thought of Kessel as the core...Just a good player that can help out in the short term. Always thought he would be flipped at some point.
87, 71, 58, Gutz (Cant remember his #) are the core. Everyone else is renting. |

My roommate is from Chicago and so is Eddie Lack’s Wife - they met there when he played for the wolves. I mentioned last blog about how many Hawk games I watched this past season. One of my neighbors is from Chicago so it gave us common ground as well
I use DobberSports for a lot of the advanced stats I look up. Living in AZ I wanted to see how both sides of the Strome trade would shake out as well. Strome was great in CHI and I think he’ll take another step forward next year
I’m active in fantasy so checking box scores is a no brainer. Some of my waiver pickups included Meier, Elias Lindholm, Hart, and Binnington after regrettably drafting Quick lol
Being from the Vancouver area of course I tracked Elias Pettersson and how he was doing in the scoring race for rookies. The draft is in Vancouver and I know a coach and a scout who are going - really looking forward to their feedback on the draft floor environment
So to answer your question: yes, I knew these things. Dobber sports is so easy to use. I learned so much about the Chicago franchise this year. Does that mean I know all the guys? No and I didn’t claim to, but I certainly know of the standouts |

See, Boyd gets it 😂
I mean, getting my concussion last year I had to quit skating, lower my workouts, and I stopped drinking for a long time - so, yeah. Sports and friends were my outlets |

You know you’re not supposed to have a lot of screen time when recovering from a concussion either, right? |

My job has huge differences throughout the year. Right now I don't have nearly enough to do and admittedly spend too much time obsessing over the off-season. Starting early July, not so much. |

On a positive note, everything I’ve been reading on Kahun makes me think he got a younger cheaper Richard Panik. |

I gotta check out Dobbers site. I usually just default to NST or whatever guys on Twitter I follow and their tableus. |

Was checking out UFA options, I'm now officially all on the Brett Connolly train. Move one of the right wingers to make space. Don't really care which one. Let's do it. |

Ryan Wilson’s understanding of what Jim Rutherford means by leadership is probably way off. Not surprising. |

I like the one you linked the other day with Maatta. So many of these sites just don’t look good, the graphic they had for Olli’s defensive acumen was solid and obviously the insight was solid (although they only posted certain things lol) |

Production from a numbers standpoint, how so? Panik plays special teams, Kahun doesn’t. Panik hits quite a bit (someone just had a really good article on his hits per 60 on the forecheck but I can’t find it, I think it was Sportsnet) and Kahun doesn’t hit a lot at all. Panik seems to be a bit more committed defensively
My opinion on the type of player we’re getting is Dominik Simon with some Rust thrown in (as far as more speed and a willingness to get to high traffic areas - tons of skill) |

Yeah the Point is an awesome follow on Twitter. They pay to have all their stats tracked which is why it’s not publicly available but they did a lot of really cool short 1-2 minute videos. |

I really have no problem with how Kessel plays during the games, weather he’s listening to the coach or not he still produces. Him goofing off with the puck at the other end of the ice while players like Sid and Geno both far better players than Kessel at least pay attention to the coach is a problem. It’s not much to ask a guy making millions to at the very least not distract everyone else in the work place. Craig Adams would have stepped up and maybe even dropped the gloves to prove a point like he did with Malkin. |

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ki3IUBpNprM Simon’s skill, but faster like Rust and the kid is constantly getting in and around the net / high slot |

I didn’t do much at all when I first got it. Volume low on everything - even road noise bothered me. 10 months later and I’ll probably never competitively again, my C1 is tilted, and I’ve lost the curvature of my neck. Still, I’m not dead or paralyzed so things could be worse |

If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times, "sprinters make the best bobsledders, and I would fire my GM if he spoke this way about a roster that has produced like the pen's roster has." There is constructive criticism and motivation by calling people out, and then there is this. I'm not in the room, so he may be right to a certain extent. There's no question though that this type of talk should stay in the room or in 1 on 1 player meetings. He also alienates Sid from the rest of the core like a teacher's pet when he singles him out as the only leader. These comments don't do anyone any good. GMJR conducts interviews as if he's an independent contractor who doesn't want any stains on his rep for his next gig. I'd happily let him start looking for one if I was 66.
FTR, I like the Kahun trade. With that being said (and for the comparisons being made), his rookie season looks a lot like Connor Sheary's. Therefore, a good trade that needed to be made because of other bad trades. |

GMJR shouldn't have to look any further than the Steelers current public relations standpoint to know he's being a Richard. |

They look a little overloaded on RW already. Hornqvist and Kessel only play there, Rust is better there, and Kahun said that's his preferred side though he feels he can play everywhere. That's not even including if McCann plays on the top line it bumps Guentzel to RW.
They could use a LW more, although Phil is probably still getting traded. |
