Would love Pavelski here with the Hawks. He’s got some chemistry with Kane from the Team USA days and is a Wisconsin boy like Keith. I’m sure he’s looking for one final payday however, so might be fiscally irresponsible of the team to sign him when they’ve got Strome to take care of as well.
- TommyHawk

Keith was Michigan State.

stanbow will be doing somethings not expected by this blog...

a trade down to 5th or 6th is a real possibility if there is team willing to pay up for a player they want and the hawks don't...

- bogiedoc

See a few comments above..... if I was a team with 2 picks and one of those in the top 10 o wouldn't trade those for the #3 pick.

I’d be happy with another quality NHL d-man and the chance to draft Matt Boldy in Exchange for #3.

Give me Eric Cernak ALL DAY. He is exactly the type of young, big, physical, and MOBILE Defenseman they need. Anthony Cirelli or Anthony Joseph would be excellent additions too. JT Miller had a very down year and was playing 4th line for them at times, but he would still be a boost to the Hawks depth for sure.
- EnzoD

Yeah, but except for Miller all those guys are on their ELC's and still cheap. They need cap space now and have to move out salary. Yes, can package one of them with Callahan.

not being extended yet...tells me his rights could be included in deal...
- bogiedoc

I do think that could be the case. Perlini could be a good trade chip since he can chip in goals and is still young.

Bogie, how is a 52 year old guy and old, tired, retread? Know if you’re talking about someone that is in their middle to late 60s, I get it, and I respect the next guys opinion, I think Ken Hitchcock still would be an effective head coach for a team , unless everybody is looking for the next Theo Epstein, Kyle Dubas, or fill in the blank as far is young and up-and-coming type coach or executive.
John McDonough had a pretty good interview last night on channel 9 , when he said a lot of this was based on hope regarding some of their decisions including the coach.
I’ll stand by what I said earlier, that my worry is if this goes south, guys like Kane Toews ,Seabrook Kieth, etc. guys did have one cups here, are going to shut this young kid down, kick him in the ass, and put him in a corner.
Part of the reason Mark Crawford was brought in. Let’s hope that Jeremy Colleton is successful.

WTC...good point...was not referring to age but more to his previous coaching positions. I thought he had coached more teams than his short stint with the oil in 2014..he has been coaching the ducks AHL teams since then...so maybe the right choice as god now that ducks team is in deep poop

it seems to me the NHL is a coach recycling factory...same guys getting hired fired hired fired...

A source just told me the Hawks are leaning heavily towards drafting a center, and it's not necessarily Turcotte. Zegras, Dach and Cozens all possibilites as well. Ah, the Bowman curveball. Wouldn't be an NHL draft without one.

Cozens.....

- mrpaulish

Cole Caufield plays centre.

They may regret not drafting Byram... BUT... they might be in a great spot for defencemen for years to come with Joki, Beaudin, Boqvist, Mitchell and even guys like Carlsson, Gilbert, Krys, etc.

Even though it’s highly unlikely, I’m hoping they trade down a few slots, get another asset or two, and still pick in the top 12 or so.

I like the idea of trading #3 for a d-man who can help now while still picking in the top half of round 1.

I really, REALLY hope Byram is passed up because they deem someone else better in the long run. Really hope.

Wonder if he’ll have more Stanley’s or more Norris’s when it’s all said and done.

Zawaski has been the recipient of the most accurate inside info coming from the Hawk FO for the last few years.

Hope he is right this time too.

Does anyone else think this is turning in to a two horse race between Cozens and Dach?

If they have a player as the clear-cut #3, they'll take him there. If they see a #1 defenseman AND one #1 center, they'll take the center. If they see 5-6 guys as the same, they'll trade down.

Turcotte and Cozens.

With Byram a distant third unfortunately.

I thought I read a couple of weeks ago, from Zawaski or on another blog who had an inside source, that the Hawks were leaning toward a center.

Man I don't know. Originally I wanted Cozens with the pick, but the past couple of weeks I've been leaning toward Byram with all the buzz surrounding him. Now I'm back with a center since the Hawks are stocked with D prospects and can really use a stud center who could be around for 10 years.

It's official on cap friendly. Karlsson 8 years at 11.5M AAV.

SJS with 16 players signed and 12.5M cap space. Pavelski, Thornton, UFA's, and Meier a RFA still unsigned

So much for Doug Wilson being a smart GM. I don't understand this term at all. If this brings them a Cup I'll be in shock.
