Agree who is the true projected center Turcotte or cozens? Could be what the brass debating about maybe. I believe both can play wing also so which would be projected as a true number 1 center for the future. This fun and exciting so let us all enjoy the rollercoaster ride of the Blackhawk's offseason. - Scott1977
Wouldn’t rule out Dach. |

Agreed. IF the Blackhawks think Byram is legit and he is the pick they will add him to a boatload of quality D prospects. Not shave off some of that depth. If thats what the Blackhawks do then they will simply buy forwards to add to the mix. - mrpaulish
Yep. BPA is BPA.
That’s what’s most important. Not depth. Accumulate the talent, figure out what to do with it later. |

at least 1/5 of them will be traded for a high octane forward.
Look at the Nashville model. Jones for Johannson. (Despite Columbus winning that by a country mile) - Slofire94
I think at least 2 of them get dealt. Not now, clearly. |

Ok Gus worth the 14th? If a conditional trade but two questions to answer if you make that deal.
1). Whom replaces Gus offense next season. How does making playoffs look without Gus is a concern Stan cannot ignore
2). Whom are you hoping to draft.....three names please because the drafting is a crapshoot to predict. Podz gone; Broberg and Boldy gone. Draft a goaltender via Gus trade, eh - jhawk59
I’d look at these three:
Arthur Kaliyev
Samuel Poulin

Let’s twist things around a second:
The Jets are in Cap crunch and are trying to leverage Jacob Trouba (who honestly is not finished canvass based on last negotiation, his upcoming RFA-He got 5.5 million)
Winnipeg or a team they trade him to can go to arbitration where a third party arbitrator determines a fair contract term and length for an expiring RFA player.
Winnipeg is asking for a whole lot right now to get this player situated elsewhere with their plans sign their big gun forwards and try and maintain some conformity and competitiveness with the remaining group, but that sword of Damocles Cup contending window with the present group really is on notice by a hair…tick…tick…tick…and the Jets HAVE NOT ALLOWED Trouba’s agent permission yet to speak with other clubs. (He’s a restricted free agent with arbitration rights this summer and a year away from unrestricted free agent eligibility.)
Larry Brooks, anyway, says the Jets are believed seeking “a first-rounder and a pair of legitimate prospects or young NHLers in return.”
To me, that is an awful lot to give up for the potential of Trouba(Note: he did have his best pro season 50 points and stat wise was good on a good winning team) because his projected salary in the market is set for a seven-year deal worth up to $7.5-million annually.
Let’s chew on all that a second.
Trade pick, trade young assets and young NHLer for the privilege to pay Trouba long term MORE THAN any current Blackhawk defenseman.
Do you see a team with all of that who doesn’t hurt themselves (as a contender) in making that deal except for are not contending right now?
So the three teams supposedly interested, Devils, Rangers, and Islanders are going to suddenly throw their lottery ball chances away with a first rounder and cough youngsters up?
Does that keep Taylor Hall in NJ?
Do the Rangers leverage young bodies despite the fan letter of a “rebuild.”
(Or IS Trouba the keystone of the rebuild?)
The Islanders have decided Kieffer Bellows, Bode Wilde, Noah Dobson, and Oliver Wahlstrom are NOT their long term solution?
Somehow I think not.
And what the Jets would like is to continue to contend at a high level and not miss a beat in their quest to finally win, so maybe they want winners, more importantly low Capped help that REALLY is help.
So what if the Hawks sent Gus with stuff…this only cost the Jets 1.2 million for this next Cup run, a pretty good sum, and if the Jets were gonna lose Trouba, does the Jets losing Gus matter if it lets them get Laine signed, Kyle Conner signed, allows them to sign Tyler Myers short term?---- giving them Gus, Buff, Morrisey Myers and the Niku kid and Logan Stanley or Poolman to fill the bottom and for at least one year they have upped their offense and whether they trade Gus or find a way to sign him they get a legitimate attacker added to the backline besides Buff.
The thing TROUBA can be is a horse and physical; not saying he is perfect in his end but there is long term value if you want to invest or even for the trade to happen and the Hawks go to the arbiter, and Trouba again gets his panties in a knot, Hawks have him for that arbiter’s length of time, and if he wants to tell his story walking a be a physical defender in another (as Gus might) so be it.
I’m just saying no problem from me if they use ANY hawk rostered guy but Kaner and Toews to fix the defensive woes.
The backline offense will be rejuvenated when Mitchell and the kids get here.
It really would be nice to see a Trouba-like player back there in place as that happens but no over pays…not a problem if another of our low Cap rostered guy gives the Jets or Leafs or anybody relief as long we fill a need back there short or long term where the return is true horse with significant toolbox to REALLY be the guy.

Thank you, growing tired of saying it. At #3 you draft the best player available period!

According to who’s list? Not a fan of BPA it’s an empty term. - Nighthawk
Nighthawk : here in Chicago WE TRUST in our Chief scout Mark Kelley, and after your teams selection of Elias Pettersson, you need to trust Vancouvers. chief scout Ron Delorme with your tenth over all.

San Jose Sharks' Joonas Donskoi intends to see what opportunities might be available to him on the free-agent market, when the interview period opens on June 23.
Hope Stan talks to him, he’s at least worth talking to, seeing how we’re not Finnished. - walleyeb1

Gus for 14. Do it Stan. - Elbows15
If Gus yields a top #14 pick in this class StanBo is a genius.
(they have spent time scouting the 11-15 slotted prospects since they thought that was where they were going to be going to the mike on.
A pick around there in ordinary drafts would cost a later #1 and at very least a couple of twos, not sure Gus is enough bait but if you are correct that would be an excellent long range move because the draft class is so good... |

No likely given his history but on the bright side, you hardly miss when he is not in the line-up.
Pens need cap space. Bowman was too generous in giving a pick at all. - Elbows15
I'm still pist about this trade as well and we're probably in the minority here. Bowman has a horrendous history of bringing in defensemen. Let's please remember before anointing our GM a hero in this trade.
1. Brandon Manning
2. Jan Rutta
3. Rob Scuderi
4. Kimmo Timmonen
5. Trevor Daley
6. Sean O'Donnell
7. Villi Pokka
8. David Runblad
Not to mention what he gave up in acquiring these flops.
And I'm sure there are more.
Only Johnny Oduya worked out and played a big part in the team's success.
I have no idea what he's going to do next but this is his time to prove himself as a GREAT GM.
If this trade and the following moves fail.....he will set this team back 10 years.
I hope he knows what he's doing.

The voice if reason.
Rocky to see the #1 is traded, man he has to ask what kind of rebuild on the fly is going on. You have your version of Byram - version, not the same - in Boqvist. Greedy greedy greedy. My gosh you have these other promising dmen prospects and you want to ignore a strong bumper croo of forwards? Sure i get it YOU like Byram a whole lot and he is your best skill guy at #3. Alrighty then please tell where to get some gritty potential top six forwards. Even if Byram is best prospect available PASS for the forward help. |

My two cents... OM never looked the same (to me) after the thyroid cancer. I've read it's difficult for athletes to get the perfect dosage of medications after the thyroid gland is removed. I also worry about his multiple shoulder injuries. I cringe sometimes when he takes a hard hit on his shoulder. He missed another chunk of time this season with a shoulder injury.....didn't require surgery however.
Gunners blog is completely accurate. Great hockey sense, but needs every bit of it to make up for his feet. When he get's caught it's ugly. The good news is he doesn't get caught too often.
Plus - Over all he's a pretty good player if he keeps it simple.
Minus - I worry about his injury history. If he ever loses a step, he'll have problems staying in the NHL. Contract is rough for his limited attributes. - madmike71
Having been down the thyroid cancer route and spending two+ years looking for the right balance of meds to feel even “normal” again, I don’t doubt what you’re seeing at all. Has to be particularly hard for athletes, since it affects the metabolism, energy levels, sleep, etc. etc. I feel for the kid and hope he has good docs who will listen to how he’s feeling rather than going strictly by numbers on the charts (which is biggest problem for us).

How coherent is this:
You insulted someone saying their grammar was incorrect and you in fact we're incorrect. |
