Indifferent.

Well, to quote... I believe it was “Meh”

With that kind of inflammatory rhetoric, you can understand the pushback he’s getting from other posters.

Take a look at their salary and terms. Would you still feel the same? Both would definitely be useful in their own way but adding close 6M is salary for at least 3 years?
Maybe 1 of them and a pick in the 2nd or 3rd round.

I would rather just get Danault.

Edit: Its actually closer to 7.5M. Gotta say no to both if it were me. Maybe add another salary like AA or Murphy/Maatta(lol)

- Elbows15

Gust and 4th AA for danault and shaw question is does habs do that deal.

Byron > Perlini, Shaw would be a great fit on 3rd line
- LAHawk

No argument there. They are both at their best being used as 3rd liners and being able to slot up if needed. They would be 2/3 of a damn good 3rd line. Put Turcotte or Dach between em.

Definitely would need to move out AA and one of Murphy/Maatta(lol) though in order for it to have net zero effect on cap space.

So much for Doug Wilson being a smart GM. I don't understand this term at all. If this brings them a Cup I'll be in shock.
- Hawkytalk

Doug Wilson will be out sooner rather than later if he doesn't deliver a Cup. So, he is perversely incentivized to mortgage the future to gamble for a win now. Either way, he likely will not be around to clean up the mess.

Karlsson before that ankle injury? He is worth that contract all day, every day. Now? He is beginning to show signs in other areas of his legs from compensating. While he still moves well, he seems to have lost that extra gear that made him so elite.

Doubtful. They love Danault and well they should. He has played very well for them. It would take an overpay to get him out of there.

Just for debate/discussion.....not factoring in current organizational depth/prospects/roster. If you are starting a team and you have to choose between Scott Niedermayer or Mark Messier (Jonathan Toews or Duncan Keith). What's the more valuable player to build around, a #1 Defenseman or #1 Center.....??

EDIT: And I know that the Hawks keep saying "Best Player Available", but when looking at 2 different positions with the likely choices being Byram or Cozens/Turcotte/Dach....doesn't the Hawks' Hockey Ops valuation of #1 D vs #1 C to an organization come into play when determining who they define as "Best Player Available"??

They won’t have a tie, Kelley “people say it’s going to be a hard decision, but with all the information we’ve gathered I think it’s going to be an easy decision”!
- walleyeb1

It is going to be Cozens. They are deciding between him and Turcotte; Dach has fallen out of favor.

They are not sold on Byram. They hesitate to think whom is projection "able" to step up first pair and Byram is really a wild card. The scouting reports all clearly mention this, although some are too quick to suggest he could become a first pair. Listen ....he has not shown it
....you are fallng all over for a "wanna be." I am not saying that he could not become an impact player. I would not object to rolling the dice on him if we didn't already have Boqvist and.other highly touted kids. This is a controversial best player available at #3 so it is ok to go after a crying need The best choice for need is Cozens. Perhaps Turcotte will become a better point producer.

Since Toews changed his style and some abrasive forwards are gone (Shaw).....the entire lineup benefits with a Cozens. Hopefully just one year away
Kelly is darn well aware they nebigger more abrasive forwards ON Top LINES. I bet Stan is the one wavering since he always tried to get the size and toughness from later picks whom play AHL for a while.

Perhaps Stan wants to draft Podz or Broberg if they move down. There are reasons why he would like those two. But he had to trade the #3 and or Gus and i do not believe that he wants to do so.

Well, if the aim is to win a Cup.......both are required. Pietrangelo AND O'Reilly. Toews AND Keith.

OFFICIAL: #NYR have acquired defenseman Jacob Trouba from the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for Neal Pionk and the 20th overall pick in the 2019 #NHLDraft (originally from WPG).

Givebacks allowed, I guess

HUGE get for NYR. Will they get Panarin and Bob to go along for the ride?

I thought Winnipeg would have got more than that.

Look for the Jets to re-sign Myers now.

The pick is the Jets original pick they gave NY for Hayes.

From Friedman

No conditional picks to WIN if Trouba re-signs. NYR were not allowed to talk to him. Eligible for extension on July 1.

Really? Wow - that would be amazing for us. Watch. . .StanBo will trade away the pick for a lower pick and prospect right before NYR pick.

Must miss Zuccarello

What is Pionk's projected ceiling? He was an undrafted FA out of college. So the Jets traded the pick to rent Hayes, then it costs Trouba to get it back, along with Pionk. Hmmm...

I don't think the Hawks can go wrong with Byram, Cozens, Dach, or Turcotte. A reach at #3 for Zegras or Caufield.....
- EnzoD

Maybe I've missed it along the way but who does Bowen Byram compare to in today's NHL ?
Is he a sure all-star in 2 or 3 years in your opinions ?
