In college my girl and I used the same towel from the bing u gym as a clean up and just threw it at the end of the bed on the floor. One day her fat roommate was sitting on the end of the bed and was sweating or something and said oh look a towel from the gym and wiped her face with it it was priceless - Upstate_isles

Trouba to the strangers, for NY's #20 this year, and Neal Pionk. Not a bad get by Winnipeg, for a malcontent who was going to fly the coop, at the end of next season, when he will become a UFA. Although, i'm wondering why the Maple Queafs, who are in desperate need of a shutdown defenseman, didn't make a play for Trouba. The strangers will not be good this season, thus their high draft pick will help the Jets restock their organization. Nice move by former New York Islanders draft pick, and current GM for the Jets, Kevin Chevaldayoff. |

And then others would offer sheet Pulock, Toews, Barzal, Beau, etc.
Yeah I don’t think Lou is pissing in his fellow GM’s faces. - nyisles7
Now that Karlsson has signed and wiped out the majority of the Shark's cap space, Meier's OS or a possible trade might be a way to go. Labanc is another possibility, but I think Meier has the bigger value.

Now before anybody screams at me, think about this for a bit. We may not be able to sign Lehner or he'd be on paper already. What would anyone thing of a possible trade for Quick and Carter for Ladd and Hickey. All the hurdles would have to be addressed with the contracts of course. Quick and Carter are both in their 30's, so age is a factor. Quick had a horrible year last year, but you have to hope that is an off year and he can re-capture his old form with the goaltending coach that gave Lehner his mojo back. Carter is still a beast in the face off circle and doesn't hurt defensively. Dropping Ladd and Hickey makes room for others and we actually will do well cap-wise. Quick is signed for 4 more years and hopefully will be able to usher in the Sorokin era. Carter will fit nicely into that 3rd C spot and important draw man in tight games. So... |

Just curious, how does that trade help LA? Plus regardless of what you may think, they have value in which Ladd has ZERO

Its no big deal, Rags got a steal of a trade but lets see what Trouba signs for? Plus he is not a 1st pairing dman, a solid 2nd pairing guy. Its a good piece to have to a team that lacks D but lets not think that Trouba is a shut-down guy bc he's not. |

My first reaction is .. Oh hell no... I get your points and unloading Ladd is intriguing but Quick is 33 years old was hurt last year and missed whole season a few years before that with injury. He has another 4 years under contract at 5.8 mill a year. If he is not able to play that is a lot of $ that is dead.. and Carter is 34 and signed for another 3 years at 5.2 mill. Odds are at that age he will not stay healthy either...
If you asked me to just take Carter for Ladd and a pick I would do it. Quick is just not a great option at this point. |

He's absolutely a 1st pairing player. He's not a franchise #1 defenseman because he doesn't have the offensive production to really fit that bill, but he's an all-situations guy that has a RH shot, size, and can be a horse. If the Rangers get him for $7M or less that's a good deal. $7.5M is OK and anything over that starts to approach not-so-great territory. |

There's been a plenty of reports that Carter has told LAK brass that he absolutely will not play anywhere else and would retire if traded. So it's a moot point.
Quick is a disaster with 4 more years left on his deal, major pass on that. I wouldn't take him for free. |

TRADE BAIT: GM Kevin Cheveldayoff says #nhljets have a lot of balls in the air. So what’s next?
Belief is Jets offered Nikolaj Ehlers to #Canes for one of their right-shooting defencemen.

Dreger on TSN1050 says Kevin Cheveldayoff was really boxed in, Trouba made it abundantly clear there were only specific teams he would go to, Trouba’s list wasn’t 10 teams long or even 5 teams long, Dreger believes it was 1 or 2 teams long.
