I only think that’s a start but I would target one of Seguin or Benn.
- SuperSchennBros

I would look into that using Jake as a piece going back. Both of those players could not have been happy after the owner ripped them for being " over priced". Maybe they all made up after a strong playoff..who knows, but Benn would be my choice of the two

The only thing that he's done that I didn't like was trading Stolarz for a player that we didn't play and don't seem eager to re-sign.
- jmatchett383

Not sure how Stolie wound up status wise but he would have played enough games here to be a UFA and with guys coming from Europe he wasn't going to be signed. Gave a chance to see Talbet. Stolie was gone anyway. He is barely a back up at this point.

I would be OK with 5 x $7m for Hayes. That's what JVR got, and Hayes is younger.

I think that would be better than 6 x $6m.

How is bringing up 60 year old men who play other 60 year old men Recreationally making a your point? We’re not talking about beer leagues, the topic is directly about professional hockey and the pro players who play in it. The capitals have a Stanley Cup winning defense. Niskanen wont be coming to that in Philadelphia.

1) You are not even remotely reading my comment properly
2) I specifically said i was half their age so no its not 60 year olds playing 60 year olds. Its a mix of ppl between 20 years to 60
3) No one is comparing them to NHL players but if you really want to, i have enough skill to be a professional player. I lack the discipline to train my body to peak form. Most likely AHL level
4) My point is that these 60 year olds have a lot of skill despite their age and those skills are no worse than they were previously, which proves skills dont erode. It is the body that physically erodes which causes body aches, reduced speed and energy.

Im not sure how to make this any more clearer

If the Flyers want to re-sign Stolie as a 3rd goalie, I don't think they'll have any trouble doing so.

And I agree. It was just odd that other young goalies (Matt Murray, Binnington to name two) came in as backup/AHL guys, played well at the NHL and were able to stick. Meanwhile, Stolarz came up, played well, and was never really given a chance, ultimately being traded for a player who played 3 games for us.

I'm not saying Stolarz is "the guy" for us, as we have our hoped pinned to Carter Hart. I just saw the move as unnecessary, and would have preferred they went with a Hart/Stolarz due to finish out the season.

Not sure how this opinion you have proves anything. It's doubling down on an absurd opinion. The evidence is overwhelming against you. The skill NHL players have starts to erode as they approach their 30's, sometimes earlier. You couldn't possibly quantify this skill that you claim 60 year olds have so saying that it proves anything is ridiculous.

From NY Post;

Winnipeg, according to several sources, has yet to give permission to inquiring clubs to speak with Trouba’s agent, Kurt Overhardt, about a contract. One would figure seven years at up to $7.5 million per season for the Michigan native — who recorded 50 points (8-42) last season, 13th most among defensemen. His 42 assists tied for ninth among blue-liners.

There are up to a dozen teams in the chase for Trouba, a mobile, 6-foot-3, 220-pound puck mover, transporter and power-play guy. The Jets, who are facing a serious cap crunch, are believed to be looking for a first-rounder and a pair of legitimate prospects or young NHLers in return.

It would take our #11, and two of Ghost/Hagg/Lindblom/TK/Ratcliff/O'Brien for Trouba. Too steep?? Can't imagine we would even think of including Frost or Farabee.

Trouba with one year left till free agency isn't close to being worth that much.

I also can't imagine giving up any of Ghost/Lindblom/TK for a guy 1 year away from UFA status.

Hell, even with him signed, I'd be hesitant to do #11 plus any of those 3. I think O'Brien's trade value is zilch right now, too. But I agree, Frost and Farabee should be nearly untouchable.

Goalies get injured all the time, and maybe they want Ustimenko in the ECHL.

The point is, Stolarz is almost certainly going to be available on July 1st.

Guys like Jagr, Lidstrom, Gretzky, Selanne etc were great stick-handlers and passers up until they retired.

If the legs didn't go on some of these guys, and their bodies could still recover from all the abuse, we'd probably see more guys pull Gordie Howes.

If I'm over paying for someone it needs to be a difference maker like panarin. I just dont do it for hayes. Higher than 6 let him go. And even 6 is high. And I'm on the record as liking hayes. Just feel like we could always acquire someone via trade if ufa doesnt work out. Could still sign someone like stralman. Trade hagg and a pick for a center.
- Tfaehner

Completely agree. Flyers need another top star player to mix in with their current roster. Panarin is it.

I'm torn. I'd love to add Trouba but not at that cost.

Provy/Trouba
Sanheim/Nisky
Morin/Myers

If that is really the cost (1st round pick, two young players/prospects) I just can't see it happening. Unless Jets settled for some of our "mid-range" prospects and maybe Hagg who seems to be our odd-man-out. Hagg is a solid 5/6 dman (IMO). I wouldn't sacrifice TK or Lindblom. Would hate to see him go to NY.

It's a general statement. There are always some players who last longer. Some players are done at 30, some earlier, some later. Looking at the generational superstars is not really the best example. Even Gretzky's skills eroded later in his career.

I would also have to believe we would sign him to an extension. That is steep but EK just signed for 8 x $11 so what the hell do I know.
