Okay, Matt Niskanen comes in at 5.5 million. What is Gudas’s new cap hit, now that we kept 30% of his deal and what is Mac’s new cap hit, now that he’s been bought out? What does the total money gained within the last 48 hours?

If Hayes wants 6.5m+ or 5+ years on a contract then just let him sign elsewhere. The loss of a 5th rounder sucks, but it's better than over-over paying a UFA and having a bad situation down the road *cough* AMac.

i'd do 6.5 at 5 but no more

Capfriendly has the flyers on the hook for 1.17 and 1.92 of Amacs cap and 1.01 of Gudas. Niskanens cap hit is 5.75.

Whoever said the Flyers have tremendous center depth? Everyone knew it was a hole in the lineup last year. Especially with trying to keep G on wing.

Pronman's Mock Draft this morning on The Athletic has the Flyers taking Soderstrom at 11, and Broberg dropping to 15. For those who have been following this year's prospects and mock drafts, what say you all?

For the record, I am not a huge fan of Pronman, he comes off as being a little too impressed with himself. Maybe thats just me.

Also, I've barely seen any of this years draftees and therefore do not have an opinion, but I was surprised at this Mock simply because I had read that if Broberg were there (which he probably wouldnt be) the Flyers would most likely take him, and now I see him sliding (in one Mock) to 15.

So.. thoughts?

edit: that was not this morning's this was from the 13th. my mistake.

- Doc_Sarcasm

Can't see I've seen much of either play, but seems like most have Broberg ranked a little higher than Soderstrom. I do like that Soderstrom is a righty. I'd be happy with either.

So we gained 3.09 million of dead space, plus Niskanen at 5.75 million and are awaiting a high priced Hayes deal.

I personally believe Mac buyout was Inevitable. It’s the right move professionally both sides. The Gudas deal was Unnecessary for the Flyers. I don’t even want Hayes, I want a true impact player.

You think Ghost and 11 would get you Seguin? Not a lot of impact players I see being available but I think Dallas seems like they'd be open to change.

Yeah looks like the flyers saved 420k of cap space for this season including the Niskanen deal. Not responsible for 3.83 of Amacs cap or 2.34 of Gudas. But they picked up 5.75 for Niskanen.

I’d still rather they just were done with Amacs cap hit after the upcoming season. But I get what you’re saying.

It's the third week of June.

They aren't done and I'm fairly sure you are going to get an impact player in some manner this Summer.

If it did it would have to be a go and I'm not a Voracek hater but Laine will rebuild on the down year and the kid has some great hands and SHOOTS

God, I think you'd have to include a lot more than that. Like Ghost or Myers.

I agree but do you think Hayes was meant to be the impact player he was targeting or is it someone in addition?

Flyers got a better defenseman. How is it unnecessary? The dead cap space is just for this season for Gudas. AMac is until end of next season. They still have plenty of room to sign their RFAs and make additions.

So after trading gudas and waiving Macdonald we made our d corps less crowded, gained cap space and got the best player, win win win!

I’d rather give duschene or panarin a max deal then bring Hayes in at anything north of 5 per, if neither one of them wants to be here I get why they overpay for Hayes, but he is no where near what he will get

Not totally unnecessary. They weren't going to resign Gudas after the season so they got something out of it.

As for the actual "something ", I'm not head over heels about it.

Hayes isn't settling for 5 from anyone. It's not 2014 anymore.

Hayes was meant to be a piece to add to a good core. Hayes is likely going to be #3C on the team. Unless Patrick struggles again. I wouldnt be opposed to overpaying over the short term. It definitely helps the team if they have 2 guys skilled enough to be 2nd line Cs.

The reality is getting PP back on track is the most important thing for next season offensively. They were a good team 5 on 5. I think we are going to be real good this season. People see Konecny as 25 goal scorer but I believe he has the skill to hit 30 if he can make better decisions with the puck. A lot of times I feel he is trying to force something that isnt there. It is definitely going to be interesting to see what Fletcher does.

Laine scored 30 goals last year 24 of which came before mid January. So 6 goals for February and March. Hmmm
