How do you know you have AHL level skill if you've never even played junior hockey? - jmatchett383
Because im really good skill wise my problem is lack of size and endurance. Because i lack muscle, i lose board battles and because im in average shape battles typically tire me out quick. That also attributes to me having issues with faster players
I have a good shot, i make good passes, i make quick decisions with the puck, im good at killing penalties and good at draws.
I even played against Ryan Ellis before he was in the NHL in a provincial tournament in Oshawa Ontario. We lost in OT. I was still in highschool at that time. Had to have been 12-15 years ago |

Sounds just like AHL level skill. Come on man, you honestly don't believe that? You know how many guys think if they were bigger they would have made it? hit the gym and win a board battle bud. |

How can he hold out after the year of regression he just had? - PLindbergh31
Probably because pro sports aren't built on the past year but rather all years and expectations. |

In my league, we had a guy who literally didn't really go more than half-tilt because he didn't want to embarrass people. He could easily have just gone end-to-end and scored on us every single time, but he wanted to keep the games interesting and didn't want to have his team win just because of him.
He played 1 year in the ECHL and was a 3rd liner. But I'm sure you'd be a sure-fire AHLer with just a touch of self-discipline. |

Except they didn't. He didnt just forget how to shoot, pass, stick handle, make smart plays. These are all mental skills. You dont lose these until your mind starts to go which can happen with concussions. Players retire because their bodies cant keep up, the wear and tear is significant on the body. They lose their speed, endurance and sometimes physical ailments that prevent you from making specific movements. This happened with ad ani used to play with. His hip went and now he cant play anymore because he cant move like he used to without pain. He still has all his skills - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Sure they did. He went from a 200+ point 80-90 goal scorer to less and less as his career went on. Shooting, passing, and stick handling are not mental skills, they're physical skills. Players retire also when they are completely healthy but just don't have the skill anymore to play at the NHL level. Certainly physical and health issues are also a part of it.

I played with so many guys over the years who played against this guy or played in this tournament and each one of them ultimately had an excuse of why they never made it big. The guy I referred to, for instance, just wasn't making enough money and realized he'd never go further.
I'm sure this one is different, though. |

Hope Fletcher has some creative ideas. Niskanen and overpaying Hayes doesn't move the needle, nor does it make this team a contender. - PLindbergh31
The team missed the playoff, but was a bubble team last year with the cast of thousands in goal. Having Hart in goal as the #1, alone... makes this team a contender. If healthy, he's got to be better than the cast - mostly made up of #2 or sub-par AHL'ers from last year.
Niskanen is an upgrade to AMAC.
Hayes would be a upgrade at forward, better yet as a 2a/2b center. Remember, even Lehtera played 27 games last year. If Hayes could do similar to last year, he's the fourth top scorer. Even if he drops 5 points, he's tied with Konecny... |

I have an issue with a few of his outfits. One picture looks like he is wearing black suede boots. I thought living in Canada for the past 6 years would have curbed that... |

It was brought up to make a point
I never said i did play pro, i said i have the skill ex hockey iq, shot, pass ect. I cant play pro because im not disciplined enough to get in peak shape. Im in average shape and have tried to eat well and work out but it never lasts a more than a few weeks. I am at AHL level in terns of skills. It is doubtful id go any higher at my age - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Possibly making hundreds of thousands of dollars or millions wasn't motivating enough? Actually bringing that up hurt your point in terms of credibility.

Having Hart is net doesn’t automatically make us a contender, even if he has a full healthy season.
I thought Hayes wasn’t signing and already knew where he wanted to go. |

This doesn't answer the question. It's just more self advertising.
