I'd feel better knowing that Holmgren has been given two identical pictures and he is holed up in his office trying to find the differences...

I wonder if he'll get a shot with another team or go overseas.
- Hextall271

He’ll be the next ex Flyer to lift the cup.

That would be so f’ing great to watch the melt down from some fans if that happened

But I mean, really...given the cap today, aside from his injuries, it's not a bad deal. Yes, he's signed for the next 853 years and has been injured...but when he's healthy, he's still a top-end player.

It's weird. Nashville is on the hook for an enormous recapture penalty if he retires early, Montreal traded Subban for him (why, again?), and we were actually saved by having the OS matched.

I was hoping Tampa Bay would win the cup so 2Real would commit ritual suicide when Coburn lifted it.

I didn't notice but did Del Zotto put on his gear and skate around with the Cup? I think someone said that he will get a ring but didn't qualify to get his name on the Cup.

How does everyone feel about the practice of scratched players suiting up and hitting the ice for the Cup presentation? I think it only started a few years back. Can't recall when I first noticed it.

If suit jobs like the assistant director of marketing is allowed on the ice, I think scratched players should be allowed.

haha head explosions everywhere.. I'm more concerned about what Fletch does in the next few weeks. If Hayes doesn't sign, I expect really aggressive moves for UFAs and perhaps a trade. Expect that we'll be right at the cap with the RFAs signed which I guess is ok. Fletch was brought in to make the team a contender in short order, and I expect he'll do whatever he can to make that happen which would include moving prospects or picks if need be.

2019 Trouba = 2010 Phaneuf

If you want to trade a bucket-load for that guy to build your blueline around, you're gonna have trouble keeping pucks out of your net and trouble making the PO's. His two-way acumen is completely theoretical. He's a physical offensive defenseman, with a noticeable me-first streak.

They let almost anyone associated with the team skate with the cup. Management, even notable ex players who are retired it seems get a skate. I’m ok with that, and the ring. Limiting names on the cup is a good idea and where I’d draw the line.

Totally agree. The noticeable difference is that they wear their uniforms even though they may not have appeared in any playoff games. It used to be that they would come on the ice in their suits but a few years back, they started dressing in their unis. Not sure when it first started. I think Kimmo was a scratch for the Cup clincher.

They spent time with the team during the season and practiced throughout the playoffs. They would have been ready if called upon. I see no issue. Just thought it was an interesting practice to be in uniform. Would love to know the first team to do this.

Kimmo played games 4, 5, and 6 (Cup clincher). I love Kimmo and all, but Chicago basically won despite him. It was clear he was cooked at that point, but glad he went out on top.

Getting a really solid back up goalie who can play 30- 35 games and give them a chance to win when he’s playing is going to be huge. A 2nd line C who can fix help the PK is also important.

I kind of think they are done on D, I hope because I fear a ghost trade may be coming which would be bad.

Adding a scoring winger is a luxury add.

If Hayes doesn’t sign I do expect a trade for that 2C. Then the back up goalie. Anything else is just extra.

This will not be an easy deal and it is tied to McAvoy directly I am told. The attitude around the Flyers is very much a "No BS" one right now....which won't help much in this case. Provorov doesn't want a bridge deal. Could be a holdout.

They why even state things if people won't believe you?

Or, just tell us your name and let us look up your junior/NCAA numbers like that WSCTeton17 guy from the Pens boards.

It was brought up to make a point

I never said i did play pro, i said i have the skill ex hockey iq, shot, pass ect. I cant play pro because im not disciplined enough to get in peak shape. Im in average shape and have tried to eat well and work out but it never lasts a more than a few weeks. I am at AHL level in terns of skills. It is doubtful id go any higher at my age

Does Marcus Johansson play wing or center more often? He could (will be) be cheaper than Hayes and Duchesne, but you're going to see a drop in production as well.

I really don't think the deal will be a problem. I see a long term deal getting done.

How many other top RFA's have got deals so far?

SO happy the Flyers didn't even sniff throwing that kind of money and term at Karlsson.

Sharks sure have a LOT of money tied up in their defense for long term over 30 players.....
