I mean they were HORRIBLE this year but yet like you say I don't think they are far off if certain things go their way. Toffoli either gets traded or has a monster year since it's his last year and I think Kopitar bounces back the same way he bounced down this year. I'll assume Carter bounces back a little bit as I just don't see him getting traded and even if we did trade him at this point what does he bring back? I do think Quick could bring a semi decent return on a team that's desperate for goaltending and I think the teams that lose out on Bobrovsky will seriously look at him.

That's something I've thought of as well. Bob is the big goalie target of the offseason by a number of teams, and only one team can get him. So maybe others look to someone like Quick, Lehner (which I read is a possibility NYI will move him), etc.

Doughty? Sorry, Dave Nonis left town some time ago. I wish somebody could explain how Drew could possibly help a contending team. Maybe like 5 years ago.

You know he was a Norris finalist last year, right? And that he won it three years ago? He admittedly had a bad year, along with the rest of LA, but he'd be the best dman on 20+ teams.

I mean I guess Mike Smith is an option that you don't have to give. up assets for versus trading for Quick. Quick wasn't the problem but if you are going to do a half/half rebuild he could get you a decent return as to me he's at the tail end of his prime but that's still better than 85% of the goalies in the league.

I threw out the Malkin rumor as I still believe DD is a Top 5 arguably Top 3 defender as is Malkin a top 5 forward. I don't want to trade him but to get Malkin type or a Nylander or Marner package deal is going to take DD.
