The Leafs will move Marleau. I don't think they will trade Kadri.

I don’t think kadri is dealt either

Would this interest anyone?

To Montreal: Gostisbehere and 11

To Philadelphia: Domi and 15

I would seriously consider it. However, I think the Habs would need to add another pick.

In the end, I would probably pass. Ghost's top end game is rare. I do like Domi though.

Why are people so obsessed with trading Ghost when his value is at the lowest it's ever been?

I still think the right move is moving Voracek.

I know what he brings but I feel he isn't a 8 million dollar guy and feel with the right deal you can still be a playoff team without him. Also i feel Lindblom will be a 20 goal guy next year and Konecny should be a 20-25 goal guy.

You make the right deal and you can gt a little younger but still bring players to fit this team and maybe lose some money to go else where.

- J35Bacher

Reminds me of the people who wanted to move Couturier a couple of years ago.

Who is Lindblom going to be playing with to get those 20 goals? He's not the kind of wing that can create offense out of nothing.

I would seriously consider that deal. Domi coming off a 72 point season (28/44).

Good cap hit and still controlled at the end of his deal (RFA)

Would Montreal?

If it's Hayes or someone else, we need a 2c. I think going into next season without that figured out would be a huge misstep by Fletcher.

That being said, I would not trade Ghost for Kadri. If you are going to trade ghost I think he could get a much better return.

If that trade does happen however, we should sign Gardiner

The entire 2C 'need' is self-inflicted.

Giroux, Couturier, Patrick... 1, 2, 3.

Maybe he truly has his heart set on another place like hammhuis did. Oh well.

I’ve been seeing reports that the talks went well and that they are getting into serious discussions. But who knows. I’ll worry about it when it does or doesn’t happen.

Lindblom just scored 17 playing all over the lineup this year.

Consistent top 9 minutes, 2nd PP he should reach 20

I am not saying you can only sign free agents. You need to have some sort of core which mostly comes from the draft. But those teams also made moves to better there team. They didn't just wait for promise of prospects.

And they also made some gutsy calls.

- J35Bacher

I’d say trading two first round picks for Brayden Schenn and to dump Lehterä is a pretty gutsy call. Glad it worked out for them. Hope it works for the Flyers too.

Giroux should stay at wing. He has said mutliple times that he thinks he is most valuable playing the wing now and I think he's earned that right. Now it's up to Fletch to do something Hexy couldnt- surround him with talent

Losing kadri opens a hole for the Leafs though.
- J35Bacher

Nazem Kadri at 3C is a luxury.

And it's not something that can't be filled internally. Marleau and Nylander can both play C. Bracco's probably ready to step up, so they can afford to shift a winger over. Petan is in the system.

Marleau is going to most likely get moved. Also they will probably move Zaitsev and maybe even Connor Brown.

And they could always move Nylander and get back pieces.

Are any of them a solid 2nd line center who can play solid 200 ft game and bring sandpaper? All at a cost of 4.5 per.

No.

A player at or approaching the end of his prime that's game is patterned off of being a diminutive but elite skill player doesn't need the wear and tear responsibilities of center.

That proposed move also fixes one problem and creates another, who's your first line left-winger? JVR? At even strength? No thanks.

Giroux and Couturier play fantastic together 5on5. It's not the move to shift Giroux back.

fair enough, I just don't see them getting much more.

You're probably right. I'm just not sure who on the defensive front on the Flyers end I'd give up.

So a player on an ELC? Their cap room is the issue, it is going to be tough to get a good player back and saving cap. All the GMs know what position Dubas is in, they shouldn't be doing him any favors.
- ClaudeFather

Depends on how many teams want Kadri. If there are a lot of teams in, all it takes is one to bump up their offer to ensure they get him.

I agree. It makes sense for the Leafs to move 4-5 other players before they need to move Kadri. I don't see him getting moved.

I think it is an extreme over statement to say that about each one of those years " they damn near won a cup." Remember, that was mostly in a non salary cap era. You may be glad that Hextall is gone but if this team goes anywhere in the future it's going to be because of how Hextall set them up.

Trying to buy and trade their way to the Cup is a mistake.

- MJL

if they dont go anywhere is that also because of hextall?

Bill,

Maybe I missed a previous response, but I have noticed you have not mentioned Pat Maroon in any of your congratulatory write-ups. It appears he was cut by the Phantoms and has sorted himself out to have a very solid career...and he was clearly noticeable on the ice...But why do you leave him out? I understand he did not play for the Flyers, but he was drafted by the team and seemed like a gem of a find in the 6th round...

I look at what guys making now. Jake is an 8 million dollar player now. But I don’t think Giroux is in line anymore with the top playmakers at 8. It’s all relative.
